i've seen this behavior in intact females, when they are inviting a male to mount them. why would she do so when she's in my lap?

sweetheart, the spaying didnt get rid of her desire to mate-just her ability. She will learn over time when she comes in contact with other cats that she is not able to mate. Remember to be affectionate to her anyways, no matter how weird she may get. that movement is also a greeting sign to her owner, cats will do it on the driveway as you approach the door when coming home from work or school.

Just because she's spayed doesn't mean she has lost all her reflexes relating to mating. You are giving her pleasure, and this is a way she registers pleasure. Don't let it bother you.

maybe your scratching her in a good spot that she likes. other than that i dont see a reason in if shes spayed.
