Cats - October 2006

OK, here's the deal. The "tomcat" is actually Sgt. Cheekypuss, a 3 year old neutered male cat who lives with us. My son and I adopted him as a kitten when we lived in Illinois.

Whilst in Illinois, Cheeky got to go both indoors and outdoors as we lived in a rural setting. Regardless of this freedom, Cheeky still used the indoor litterbox and spent a fair enough time indoors. We got him neutered at about that time when cats should be neutered.

Since moving, we cannot let him out anymore as the city has strict policies on pets. He got out once and animal control picked him right up and we had to pay like $200 to get him out of "jail". Cheeky seems to have adjusted to indoor life just fine, and when I take him outside to play in his cat run (I bought this so he could at least get some fresh air), he wants nothing to do with it.

However, Cheeks goes through these almost "monthly" cycles where he poos on the living room floor in the night. He'll do this for about a week.

I know someone who has a cat in a flat and never lets it outdoors as she lives in a city. She reckons it's infe as it's fully adapted to life indoors and has no need to go outside. But I think it must be mentally if not physically unhealthy for it.

My cat got an enema today, and has shown no further results at home. She may have to have another one, but she is on laxatose or what not so hopefully she will improve with that.

She was dehydrated. I was curious, how to get her to drink more water? I set up more water stations around my apartment with different types of bowls (maybe she would prefer a different type) but that is about all I came up with.

How do you get your cat to drink more water? And do you have any tips for a constipated cat, I know of vegetable oil & pumpkin.

My three year old Maine Coon just vomited a whole lot of clear liquid with little signs of food. I just gave him a new flavor of food and he ate a little and just drank a lot of his water. I was in bed and I just heard him vomiting, it was mostly all liquid as I said. He doesn't have diarrhea and when he vomited his eyes looked a little watery but I think that was from the amount and the force. I gave him clean water afterwards and he drank a lot of it. I am not sure if I should be worried or maybe it was a hairball? He is a long haired cat, so that may be it. Please help someone, i am worried.

He's not our cat but he's always around our house. He's very, very friendly (and he clearly has been neutered) and we don't mind having him around, but i see him "backing up" and sticking his tail up at EVERYTHING. I don't seem to smell anything, is it just a habit for him?
I'm just worried because even when we're outside with the baby he will lift his tail on the baby's chair or his other things.

She's shy and nervous, what can I do to make her more comfortable with me, do I just leave her to settle and eventually she'll make her way to me?

The reason I am asking this is because some of you keep giving sympathy to a psychopath who gets jollies out of torturing kittens and posting about it!! Some of us mention this and you all still keep saying how sorry you are...READ the previous answeres answers first so you don't tell a lunatic that you are sorry they killed their cats!!

i was on the computer and i heard my cat yelping and i found him trying to throw up. He jerks his head forward as if its about to come our, but nothing does. Then he lets out a little raspy meow. He finally threw up some mucusy liquid and then he did it again this time it was a little pink, which really scared me. I can see him breathing but i don't know if he has something in his throat. He is sleeping now, and im just really scared.

Cat is housebroken, let him out side to potty and 2 large dogs
came into the yard and attched him. We think they only got him a couple times but they were large lab size dogs. Hes in pain thats forsure and when he walks his legs are really far apart but he can work them. He lets me love him and let me pick the grass and such off him. Does anyone know anythings about cats ?? If he can walk does that mean his back is not broken ? Im not a cat person but LOVE this cat !!!! I dont want to have him put down it would break my heart !!
Is there anything I can check for to tell me if things look good or bad ??? Any help would be wonderful cause we dont have much money and I have to make a very big desission right now.
