I called the vet offices last night to get after hours help but they dont take new clients after hours. So I made a 7:30 am appointment to have him looked at. I stayed up with him all night loveing him but at 7:00 am just 30 minutes before we could go to the vet he passed. That was the hardest thing I ever did and still cant stop crying !! My 3 1/2 year old wants to know where Mow Mow is :(
Should I get a new kitty today ?? Does it help the pain and to help us move on or make things worse....I have to stop crying my eyes are swallen almost shut.

Usually when its leg is broken they do NOT put any weight on them. So if your cat is i would probably say it should be fine but, if you can keep it in for a few days and watch him closely for any signs of unusual behavior and if he seems sick call the vet. good luck

Take the cat to a vet. Even if nothing is broken something could have been torn or dislocated. It is impossible to give proper advise over the Internet because we can't see the animal. Most vets offer payment plans. If you live near an animal shelter then they may help out with the vet bills if you meet the financial criteria. I would recommend after you get the cat checked out that you put a litter box in the house since you have dogs running loose in your neighborhood. Come to think of it, do you know who the dogs belong to??? Call animal control and the owner of the dogs would be responsible to pay your cats vet bill. It doesn't sound to me like the animal would need to be put to sleep. It sounds correctable. I am so sorry that your cat has had such a tough time. I wish you the best of luck with him.

Did the dogs break the skin?
If you cat is walking and his tail is working then his back is most likely not broken. But it sounds like he may have hurt his hips. It is up to you if you want to take him to the vet to see if something has been crushed? If it was my cat I would wait to see a day or two days and see if he gets any better. But if he appers to become more painful I would take him right to the vet.
Make sure that he is breathing fine listen to his breathing see if you can hear anything that sounds like fluid or a rattle if you can take him to the vet.
make sure that he is urinating fine no blood, and not in pain. If his bladder was full and the dogs bit down on him they could have damaged it.
make sure that he is having a bowel movment and that there is not blood init.
If he is not felling any better in a 2-4 days take him to the vet if you are at all worried take him to the vet to put you mind at ease.
If I were you I would call animal control on the people with the dogs that attacted your cat. I believe that they are responisble for the damage their dogs cause since they came into your yard. If they want take care of their dog problem you should find away to take care of it for them. I'm not a great fan of people who want take care of their bad dogs!

I'm very sorry for your loss. I recently lost my cat also. I wouldn't get another cat yet only because then it would seem as if I'm replacing my cat that died. Wait a few months, maybe even a year before deciding if you want to get another cat. Also tell your child what happened and be there for him/her. There is a website that I went to after my cat died that gave some ways of dealing with the death of a cat and some ways that children deal with it. http://www.2ndchance.info/grieving.htm

Also when my first cat died, I got this poem that may help:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I hope that this poem helps you and again I'm very sorry. If it makes you feel any better, I still cry over my first cat's death and that was 3 years ago and this poem makes me cry every time I read it.

I'm sorry to state the obvious, but your cat needs to see a vet. Many hospitals have payment plans, and you might want to discuss with them that you cannot afford a lot right now, if it comes down to it, they may be able to find a suitable shelter where volunteers and good samaritans sponsor animals in need of health care. Please don't let your cat suffer because you're too proud to ask for help. I've been there and the vets know that times can be tough.

Check for any sign of open wound first. There is no reason to put your cat down from an injury unless it is life threatening and his life will no longer have meaning. I had a cat that was run over by a car and survived but walked crooked the rest of his long, long life. Take him to your local vet and get an opinion.

When you take an animal into your life, it is like having a child. You make a commitment to care for them...their health, nutrition, safety, etc,. If you really care about your kitty, take him to a vet and have him checked out. He could be suffering internally, and you could help him. The vet might be willing to work out a payment plan for you if it gets expensive. Vets are vets because they love animals, too.

oh my goodness......please please please take the kitty to the doctor :(!!! it's probably not a broken back or spine etc because i would think he wouldn't be able to walk at all. but he could have something dislocated. please post additional info when u know waht's wrong. i have 4 cats adn love them so much and am just so sad right now to hear this! i hope you can get him to an ER for animals. we have one around here.........i bet you do too. I know money is tight but sometimes some things warrant a re-prioritizing. ask for payment plan, put it on a credit card. heck....if they can bill you later take that option, even if paying back takes forever. seriously, the pain your little guy must be in must be so great. can you imagine an injury that caused you to walk funny? that crap ain't a joke. my thoughts are with your kitty :( please let him be ok.

I totally agree with trancegoddess answer, take your kitty to the vet. Pets are like children, they depend on you to take good care of them! I'm sure you could work it out as far as payment-let the vet know you have limited money, see what he can do for you. Don't let your kitty suffer!

Take your cat to the vet first thing in the morning. If you know who the dogs belong to, it may not hurt to inform them of what has happened and that you need help with the vet bill.
