I compared the ingredients pf PCC to all of the other cat foods and that one has more protein and other good ingredients than the other ones. Well, some of the pet store stuff has different ingredients, but I think that if you can't spend a lot of money on cat food that Purina Cat Chow is one of the ones to feed your kitties. I know mine look healthier now that I am feeding it to them.
The cat foods I don't recommend to anyone are the 5 dollar big bags of food that are made out of pure fillers...that is unhealthy.

None here. I have fed my cats many different cat foods. Some cheaper, some more expensive. My cats love Purina Cat Chow. Anything with color makes them throw up. The more expensive stuff they just really didn't like. I've been feeding my cats Purina Cat Chow for years. As far as I'm concerned its the only cat food out there. Whatever my kitties want, they get.

I have information on two Purina cat foods that I looked at in the grocery store:

Purina One - 34% protein, $1.72 per pound. Ingredients: poultry by-products (that's heads, feet, entrails, feathers of chickens) whole grain corn and brewer's rice. That food is 2/3 carbohydrate.

Purina Natural - 38% protein, $1.59 (on sale), chicken meal, corn gluten meal, soybean, brewers' rice. That's also over 2/3 carbohydrate.

I am not too sure about brewers' rice and I am pretty sure it is rice with the bran (the nutritious part of the rice) removed.

So, as far as a cat is concerned it is junk food. Cat's are obligate carnivores and need quality protein in their diet.

Compare with: Solid Gold Katzen Flocken at $1.50 per pound. Ingredients: lamb, chicken meal, millet, brown rice, fish meal. Brown rice still has the bran on it - that is the nutritious part of the rice.

Also - Natural Balance, 34% protein at $1.66 per pound. Ingredients: chicken meal, brown rice, duck, lamb meal.

Eagle Pack: 32% protein, duck meal, brown rice, chicken.

CA Natural - 36% protein at $2.40 per lb. chicken, chicken meal, brown rice.

Is it hard to see which are the best foods?
