my flat is only 4 rooms so difficult to put her anywhere else they lounge is the safest place for her. my boyfriend is allergic at night not in day and would rather keep her out iof room rather than rely on meds.

Try laying in the lounge with her let her fall asleep and then leave...

Wait her out she will eventually get into the routine at night and stop it.. but it may take a while...

Your BF could try one of the non drowsy meds like Claritan.

Be aware that if he is allergic he is allergic.. and if you have cat all over you and he is got his facee up on you it may bother him.

The reason it bothers him at night more is probably because kitt yis on teh bed and close to him.. and during the day he is not all u p on him???

I am also allergic to cats.. but had them growing up and though no longer have one most my family does.. I am ok as long as I dont get the cat near my face or pet it then rub my eyes before I wash them...

I wish you luck...
But I would bet the kitty will adjust and stop the noise ... be patient.. BUT if you give in... then you will undermine yourself... so hang tough if the only thing you can do is the lounge .. you have to wait her out..

Good Luck

First of all if you are allergic to an animal you are allergic at all hours of the day. So from what you are saying maybe your boyfriend is just someone who doesn't believe animals should sleep in beds with humans. You need to choose between him or the cat if he is truely allegic. I would sit down with him and discuss this issue. Also why didn't he tell you he was alergic before you got the cat? Good luck.

I am the same way actually, during the day I am fine with my 9 week-old kitten but at night my allergies start to bother me when he is in my room (and yes, only at night). I do take medicine (Alavert) when my allergies start to bother me. It works well! Tell your boyfriend to just take some over the counter medicine as needed, if he is bothered by the cat.

What we do with him at night, is put him into a nice, big (but kitten-friendly) room with all of his toys, food & water. He does cry for a little while (10 minutes or so) but eventually he falls asleep or finds something to do. He wasn't so happy with the arrangement when we first got him, and he would cry for much longer (a half hour or so). But they do get used to it.

Get another kitten from the litter. As we all know, sleeping alone is lonely. If she has a friend, she will be happier.

You need to keep her out of the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. This gives him a few dander free rooms

Look dont keep it locked up in the lounge just close your door and until your awake keep the door open and then when you go to sleep keep it out but keep the doors open but yours closed so then it has more stuff to do and if you ,can get another cat .

Just ignore it. My cats used to do the same thing when they were younger, eventually they realised they weren't getting in and gave up. Do you have to 'lock' her in the lounge though? She may be crying because cats don't like being shut in anywhere. Why not give her the run of the house and just shut the bedroom door?

It sounds funny that your boyfriend is only allergic at nite. Its your own fault for her meowing cause she wants in. Either let her in, ditch the boyfriend or give her away to someone who will care for her and not pretend to be allergic only at nite.

Do you have a room further away from your room that you can lock her into?

She will eventually get used to it. Our cat sleeps in a room downstairs, with food, water, and a comfy bed.

In the meantime you need to get your sleep so find a room on the other side of your living space that you can lock her into with all of the things that she needs. Then enjoy your sleep - she'll be fine.

Honestly if you plan to keep both of them, which it sounds like you do, he needs to take allergy meds if he is around her. Whatever you do, don't lock her up. Cats hate that with a passion and they will only meow because of it.
