My kittens are only 5 weeks old and they are loaded with fleas! They are too young to use flea sprays. What is a safe yet effective remedy for fleas??

Are they effective and how long do they stay on? My cat isn't the most cooperative so can a vet help me put them on and what would a vet charge on average for that?

My cat is almost three and recently started scratching on new dining room chairs. I'm looking at options rather than declawing.

Thanks!

Fishing early this morning off of a concrete pier on a local river, I noticed a tiny black kitten clinging to a barnacle laden piling. Most of the people fishing knew it was there but simply didn't care or didn't know what to do about it. My father called my mother who was at home and asked her to bring out one of our 30 foot long shrimp nets. It was barely long enough to reach the kitten below but eventually we scooped him up and got him onto the pier, he was soaked and shaking profusely, tried to walk but kept falling. We got him home and put him in towels in a box with a heat pad on one side, and he shook for about an hour. We held him and warmed him, and petting him and he was fine with it when wet and weak, but once he got dry he turned on us and wont let us touch him, hisses when we come near.. It was a complete turn around, is this a result of being frightened and weak? Or is simply his constituation as a feral? He's about 8 weeks old, do you think we can tame him and save him?

She has eaten, and used her litter box. But she has slept for the past 16 hours. She usually wakes us for breakfast. She did not Is this normal? should I take her to emergency?

My oldest cat is right around 20 years old. Throughout his whole life, we have had to deal with tooth and gum problems. Last spring, we finally had to have his last two teeth (canines) removed, because we simply could not get rid of the chronic gingivitis. Eating can be a challenge for him now, but he does pretty well with the food I give him (the Whiskas pouches with lots of gravy, etc.) and he does choose to eat dry food at times. Yet I feel like I could be getting him some better nutrition. He does not like the ground/pate type foods. Any thoughts on a liquid supplement, or something to help him eat healthier?

Hi. Each morning our cat gets up around 6:30 to 7:30 and sits at our bedroom door meowing. Sometimes we get up and feed him, but immediately after eating a bit, he is back at our door crying again. We were told by the vet that the way to stop this is to ignore it so the cat will not learn that he is rewarded for making noise at our door. We tried this for a while, even putting enough food in his bowl the night before so he'd still have some in the morning, but it didn't work. Are there any other ways to stop this? By the way, we have another cat, a female, that sleeps through the morning.

Thanks.

When ever I go to other cat owner's homes their cats come when they are called. When I call Brooklyn she just ignores me. I know she's not deaf since she comes running when she hears me rattle the treat bag!

She will clean other cats butts, but not her own, so i know she knows how to clean them. Why won't she clean her own. If i can smell it, she can smell it!

I have six indoor cats--four females and two males. I had a Female Calico, my Fiancee brought in his four, three being littermates, and together we adopted a female kitten.

My girl, Katy Jane, has recently started bopping our large male tabby on his head with her paw.

She will be be walking past him, stop, bop, and continue on as if nothing happened. He will just sit and stare at her as if she is crazy.

Occasionaly she will make a angry cat sound as she does so, but not often. She never hurts him, and other than the bop, does not attack. It is as if she is reminding him Who She Is.

He is the only one of our cats she treats like this.

Is she Alpha, and sees him as a threat to her title and thus she has to keep him subdued???

or does she just have something against the Tabby boy, or both????

Any help with this is appreciated.

my parents took the cat to the vet today and had it neutered - after 3 hours the vet called to say it could be brought home - when we brought it home, the poor cat looked so miserable i cried.. its painful to see my baby that way =( any tips on how to take care of my baby within these few days after operation? how can i help him feel less pain? The doctor didn't give any edible medicine - he only gave the type to apply on the area (to kill germs) - is there any medicine i can buy so that it can relieve its pain? should i leave it alone in a quiet room to sleep or should i stay by its side? and is it ok if i pet it? i don't want to annoy him too much now that he's in pain... suggestions and tips are GREATLY appreciated. i need it ASAP cuz i don't want my baby to suffer more than it already has =(

I'm 6 months pregnant, and my male cat has been acting strange for about 3 months. He's always done the normal thing's that cats do, out part of the day and spending some time at home sitting with us, but since the start of the summer he's staying out as much as possible coming in to eat for 5mins, doesn't want to be stroked and then leaves as soon as possible. Sometimes he'll even walk out of the kitchen if I disturb him! This is very strange behaviour after 8 happy years together and he isn't getting less attention from me! Is it because I'm pregnant?? If so what can I do?? Please help someone!

Hi!
I have 2 indoor cats in my house. They go to the vet every once in awhile - but are gerenally very healthy cats.
I know our town have a Free Annual Rabies Vaccination fair at the town building each september. Our cats are fairly young (one is about 3 and the other, 4) and both had their rabies shots when we first got them. One of our cats ALWAYS tries to get outside (she'll do WHATEVER she can!) but the other doesn't care for the outside..in fact, he is scared to even PEEK outside the door (it's really cute. lol). Anyway...should I still get them vaccinated? The female is a VERY nasty cat to strangers. She loves us (but will even attack US at times) but the male is VERY mellow (but like I said, he doesn't care to even go outside!) I'm afraid the female would REALLY tear apart any veterinarian that will approach her! haha

What should we do?

Thanks!

She's an 8-year-old spayed female and she tends to do it in my bedroom. I'm away at university for most of the year. We have provided a litter box (a selection of litterboxes, in fact) and we have no dogs. We have one other cat, also an 8-year-old spayed female. My cat has had hormone problems in the past. What's going on? I'm either going to have to replace my cat or my carpets at this rate.
