I have six indoor cats--four females and two males. I had a Female Calico, my Fiancee brought in his four, three being littermates, and together we adopted a female kitten.

My girl, Katy Jane, has recently started bopping our large male tabby on his head with her paw.

She will be be walking past him, stop, bop, and continue on as if nothing happened. He will just sit and stare at her as if she is crazy.

Occasionaly she will make a angry cat sound as she does so, but not often. She never hurts him, and other than the bop, does not attack. It is as if she is reminding him Who She Is.

He is the only one of our cats she treats like this.

Is she Alpha, and sees him as a threat to her title and thus she has to keep him subdued???

or does she just have something against the Tabby boy, or both????

Any help with this is appreciated.

Yes, she's alpha. Before I realized you were going to explain, I was going to say whichever one is the grumpy one. I think the alpha takes his or her responsibility very seriously. The fact that he doesn't defend himself indicates that he is not challenging her authority. It makes sense, since she was the original cat in her territory.

This is sort of a "not to worry" situation. I have a dominant male and a dominant female and they don't have any trouble between them maybe because Kinsey is just a very laid-back leader. The other cats go to Kinsey to have their heads licked. Nobody likes Sylvie, she avoids them and they avoid her. I have never seen her go to Kinsey to have her head licked.

Usually the dominant cat (a female) will assume the hightest position in the house. Kinsey uses a high shelf above the refrigerator and Sylvie goes to the top of the cat tree.

I think she is just being playful with him. She wants to play and it sounds like he doesn't.

The way to find out which cat is the true alpha cat in the household is check out the littlebox(Gross I know but this is totally true). The cat that leaves its poop uncovered is the alpha cat. The other cats will usually cover their poop up.

Yes, she sees herself as the alpha. I am sure she feels threatened with all of the new additions. My Cleo hid behind the couch when we brought home a kitten. Any time the kitten got in Cleo's way, oooh, watch out. Cleo is my baby so the kitten is now with my sister.

Usually the one that acts this way is, and is protecting it's space.
As all the others follow the lead , she will be dominate, but not to say she would'nt let others eat first or the like.

Tie all their tails together. The one that wins the battle is the alpha.
