me and my partner just got a pet cockatiel he's about 4 months old and I've noticed his feet are really scaley and dry, is this normal?
also he has a small red mark on the bottom of one of his feet which looks like a sore, is this something thats normal and will just heal? Also last thing, do you need to cut their nails? cos i dunno if his are getting longer or i'm just thinking that.
Thanks, any help much appreciated!!

There is this freakin bird that comes around to our house at night and I guess it has a nest up in a tree or something, but it literally chirps ALL night long. There is no intermission, there is no relief, and consequently there is no sleep.

I am losing my mind. I really must find a way to get this bird to move on. Please someone help me get rid of this bird!
Please I am begging you!

Thanks

I carefully moved the nest out of the grill beside the grill so that when the mommy bird comes back to look for it, hopefully, she'll see the nest. I'm in NW Florida, so it's pretty warm now. But I'd hate for the birds to dye if the mother doesn't come back for them. What can I do, anything? will they survive one night without the mom bird? how should I keep them warm? Please help!

ABout fifteen minutes ago, I saw a blue fischers lovebird in my tree. i actually thought it was my pet lovebird that i have in a cage outside. When I looked at the cage, my pet bird was still there. To lure the stray lovebird, I placed the cage close to the tree. The pet bird and the stray bird have been interacting between the cage wires.
How can I catch the stray bird? Should I let the stray bird become friends with my pet bird before I ty something?

We used to have just one canary, a male who sang very well. We received a pretty female canary as a gift and put it in the cage with the male. The male stopped singing so often. She started making a nest and depositing eggs. After about five or six weeks she pushed the eggs out of the nest as well as all the newspaper she shredded. After the third batch of eggs she started loosing the feathers on her head. THe eggs have never hatched, but she sat on them and the male brought her food.
They are seperated again, but her feathers are still dropping and she does look funny being mostly bald down to the start of her neck.
What can we do?

I've been looking at cockatoos lately.. they seem like very adorable birds. I'd love so much to have a lifetime relationship with one. But as far as right now goes, i'm worried i'm not around enough for it. I leave within an hour after getting up, (7:30) and am home around 3-4ish. Is that too much time away? I also have a 7 yr old cockatiel.. how will that go? She's very very attached to me, and a bit spoiled. Would a cockatoo cause conflicts with the tiel?
I'm not completely engaging in buying a too yet, just a slight consideration ATM.... Just want a few opinions ;]

I have a Green Quaker Parrot, and they are known for screeching. It tends to be annoying and stressful, and hard to ignore. Is there anyway I can quiet him down? I've tried using a spray bottle filled with water, but he seems to enjoy it. I go over and tell him to be quiet, but as soon as I walk away, he continues screaming. It's loud too, I can hear it from my neighbor's yard sometimes. Is there anything I can do?

Hey, I found these 2 chicks in the renovation we were working on, they were really bothersome but we waited till the last chance we had to take them out, there was a mother bird but no idea where she went. We went to a neighbors house and we saw a bird approach them, too busy socializing, no idea if the bird ate one of them or what. Atleast one of them is left and havent seen the mother so it may be dying, again may have been the mother so they may have been fed. But we really feel sorry for them and arent sure what to do, should we call somewhere or just let nature take it's course?

Thanks

It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. We walked into Petsmart to buy bunny food and walked out with a pair of love birds. I want to make sure we are doing everything we can to properly care for and love them, so any advice or tips from bird owners is much appreciated!

I just put out a hummingbird feeder but if I run out of the necter that I bought, should or could I use something they like? I know they like red, so maybe Kool Aid since it is sugar? Or is that bad for them?

I am thinking of buying a female dusky conure, but she comes with a bird. The seller does not know which breed it is, so it makes me weary…. Anyways, he says “I can't recall how to pronounce his breed, it is a mouthful. It sounds like chimi.... He is basically green with a two small bands just over his beak - one red and the other is yellow. I do know his breed comes in two varieties, green (like him) and yellow. He is very quiet and only makes soft chirping calls. His breed is actually one of the quietest I've ever come across in the parrotlet family.”

Any tips for getting my rainbow lorikeet to wear his bird diaper?

He is one years old but I know it is still possible to get a parrot to wear one regardless of age, just not as easy as a baby bird.

I made a little more progress the other day, but it is hardly anything. He likes to play with the diaper, he thinks it's an awesome toy. I've been setting him on it and then praising him for standing there.
Today I was able to pull the side pieces up but not as far as velcroing them because he will then try to run away/bite me hard. So we'll play with the diaper again until we get to that stage again...

However, it really does feel like we are getting nowhere. I'm trying to be patient and this has been going on for a few months now... x__x Also would it be better to put it on him by getting him to stand in it or hold him?

It's better than the feather tether anyway, really got nowhere with that, he hates things going over his head...

we had a finch nest in our tree outside and they had built the most magnificent nest. but then the branch fell of and the nest fell to the ground this must have happened yesterday afternoon sometime we found it this morning on the ground and it has 2 little eggs in it but they both have little splited cracks in them :( i currently have heat surrounding them. one of them's shell has rather yellow tinge to it and the other is whiter but you can see there's a red marking inside the shell. does this mean they're both dead? and im not sure if they were really cold before cos i've heated them now. How long do i need to wait to see if they will hatch or not?
