i want to know

2007-12-18 08:32:22 · 8 answers · asked by maddenschamp 1 in Dogs

I'm not sure if anyone is going to know this in the dog section, but my Carbon Monoxide detector had a reading of 11 on it today when my boyfriend got home. He said the cats were barely moving and so was my dog. I'm extreamly shaken up by the now. My boyfriend took them all outside for fresh air, and the reader says 0 now (the pilot light went out on the gas fire place while it was on, and I didn't realize it). Are my animals going to be okay?.. and is a reading of 11 bad? I know nothing about carbon monoxide, and I don't have the manual for the detector. Thank you.

I'm calling the vet right now as well... but I would still like some veiws on this.

My hamster sniffs my thumb when it is climbing out of it's cage onto my hand although I normally just hold a flat surface so it can climb out onto that. Is my hamster about to bite me? Also when I'm holding Mr. Tubby (he's a bit on the round side) he sniffs my fingers but he's sniffs the side of them when I'm holding my hand flat. Is he about to bite me? I'm scared of my hamster, and I feel really bad about it; I just want to be able to hold him without that fear, is there anything I can do with him to help him gain my trust. When he sniffs me I get this feeling of nausea then I put him on the floor straight away. I think I need to trust him more as welll as he needs to trust me. Can anyone help! Thanks.

Would you go to place like this and have this done to your pet? You would have to pay for it, but would keep the pictures you wanted. But their would be various costumes to chose from.

I am currently designing a logo for such a company for a client and it just got me thinking, if the business was going to be successful so I figured I'd ask. I personally don't have any pets at this time, so I am neutral. :)

He tends to growl at his sister when she tries to take his toy away, I do not know if he is just playing or being serious, however, being curious I tried to take his toy from him and check how he reacted. He started pulling back and growling while I was trying to pull the toy away. I think he shouldn't do this to me so I yelled let go. Nothing. Yelled louder. Nothing pulled stronger yelling even louder and he let go a little frightened. I repeated this several times, now he lets go usually at the second warning and when he let's go I say good boy and let him have the toy. Is this the right approach?

Few days back I purchased a male husky dog about 2 years old from a breeder. The problem is that he looks like a wolf, instead of a dog. I feel the breeder has sold me a fat wolf, instead of husky dog.

I mean he just has too much of a wolfish look in him. His eyes also seem to sparkle way too much, compared to other dogs. I doubt a dog can have such bright eyes. All his physical features resemble a wolf. He seems to be large and muscular too. He also has unlimited energy in him and never gets tired. I read about wolves that they have lots of energy in them too.

His behavior is okay but he doesn't take much interest in anything besides food. I dont' sense any loyalty in him too.

This is the first time i have purchased a dog and so because i'm inexperienced I do not know if my suspicion against the breeder is correct.

could it be that i was given a wolf? Is there a way to find out?

Let me know please.

1) When will she start her periods?
2) When will she be in first heat and what I should do about it?
3) Her body hairs are falling a lot, how to stop it?
4) She starts smelling bad just after two days of bath. I am giving her only vegetarian Pedigree brand food.

They had ear mites and were treated with Revolution for 4 months. The vet says they shouldn't have any more but the 3 of them still shake their heads and scratch their ears all the time. I called this morning and told this to the vet tech and she says that it would be impossible for the 3 of them to have an ear infection at the same time. This problem has been going on for too long now. I did make an appointment with the vet for monday morning, I was just wondering in the meantime because it's driving me crazy seeing them itch all the time and I would really like for this problem to get resolved. I've seen 3 different vets for this when they had the ear mites.

She is an registered Arabian broodmare and she had a baby a few months ago, if I got her really fit and worked with her every day would it be okay for her to barrel race? I don't want to hurt her if she is too old. She doesn't look like shes 21. But I would like to do somthing in rodeos or somthing, I would also like to try pole bending if barrel racing doen't work and If pole bending is not to harsh for her either. I just want to know if It would hurt her if I did any of thoes. Sorry if thats confusing. Thanks!

Okay... So, I adopted a really nice, friendly 8-week old puppy from the shelter a couple days ago and bought a crate (with hopes of crate-training her) yesterday. Before I begin trying to train her, though, I have a question about the whole process...
In all of the articles I've been reading on the matter, it is stated that the puppy should be gradually introduced to the crate (first fed in the crate, later left in the crate for short periods of time, and lastly left in the crate while I'm at work/asleep).
Here's the question: since leaving her in the crate while she sleeps - or I'm at work - comes last, what should I do in the meanwhile? Should I just allow her to roam around the house as she's been doing while I've been at work (or sleep in bed with me at night)? Or, should I just disregard the order of the steps and simply have her spend the night in the crate to begin with (instead of working up to the in a step-by-step process)?

PLEASE HELP!!!
