For the dog owner....if the dog is purebred (or close to it) you could get a breed related gift. My boss at work has dobermans and I found the cutest key chain charm with a pewter doberman. It was very expensive and she loved it. I don't know how much you know about the owner...but if they like scrapbooking there are dog related scrapbooing kits at PetSmart. PetSmart also has the paw print frames. It's a nice wooden frame with two sides....one is where you can put a picture of the pup and the other side has a mold where you can do an imprint of the pup's paw.

First, you are the service provider, so the owner should be getting you a gift. You can give your customer a coupon for a free day or week of walking the dog. You could get them a photo of their dog enjoying a walk with you or playing in the yard. Dog owners love photos of their pets.

Stay with something simple and handmade like dog bone shaped human cookies or maybe a photo album of your favorite pictures of the dog and owner or just the dog. Something small and heartfelt will mean way more to the owner than something store bought and flashy:>)

I'm a big fan of rag bones. They're very inexpensive and a great play toy for tug of war with the dog. They also help clean the dogs teeth. This would be a fun toy for you to play with the dog and also show how much you care. Pet gifts don't have to be expensive.

A gift card to PetCo would be great. Even if it $10. A dog owner can ALWAYS use that!!!

Maybe a new leash or something that would be equally a gift for the owner and the dog?

See about having a picture made with Santa. Sometimes Petco or other pet stores do that.

I think they should be giving you a present for walking their dog, even if they pay you for the job.

How about a St. Francis charm for the dog's collar. I think they run around $10 at Petsmart. (it might be a different Saint, come to think of it)
