Hi, everyone. My 11 year old daschund recently tore her ACL in her back right leg. The vet gave us some anti inflammatorys and also suggested 500 mg of gloucosamine. Since we've been giving her the pills, she's been vomiting frequently. Assuming it was the gloucosamine, we took her off of that today and gave her 1/4th of her pain pill(vet suggested half, we figured maybe it was too strong for her). Everything was fine from 2 PM today to about 10 minutes ago and sure enough, she vomited again.

Is there any thing that anyone here can suggest? Maybe give me an idea as to what could be causing the vomiting? She doesn't seem to have diarreah and seems to be walking on the leg fine, which indicates the pain pill is working. Anybody have any ideas?

i have two Sunburst Platy. three weeks ago i noticed the bigger one fighting with the smaller. now the smaller one just sits on the bottom of the tank. it swims occationally, but not normal. it does not swim level, rather the head stays high and the tail low. and when it stops swimming it sinks. i've seperated the two fish. the bigger fish stays close by on the other side...essentially waiting. its pretty sad.

i'm thinking a fin or fins were damaged.

do you think this seperation will rest the fish enough to swim again?

Hi, I'm taking care of a friends dog this Christmas. I've taken care of him many many times before but maybe it's cause I'm used to my new puppy that when I went to visit him today I was so shocked at his size that I almost had a heart attack! Well I'm exaggerating but still. He never gets enough exercise and get fed a lot of human food. He's part corgi but he looks mostly like a corgi. He is definitly obese, so when I doggy-sit him I must slim him down! Well I do know the basics, exercise and no table scrap etc. but is there anyone who's experienced or is a professional at dieting? Anything I should watch out for?

I have a RES (about 4 inches) and I just got a Western Painted tonight. They are the same size. I have my RES in a 75 gallon. I was wondering how well these two will do together? Any advice?

PS - I do understand that they will get very big. I already know where I'm going to keep them full grown.

Just out of curiousity. We found him when he was about four months old. He was a stray and he came to my dads house and stayed in his garage for about a week or so, and my dad lives in town so he gave him to us so he would have more room to run. we think he may have been mistreated because he was really skinny we could see his ribs and backbones and he was really afraid of people at first. But we finally got him to trust people and now he's happy:) and when someone new comes in the door he'll run up to them and lick there hand. He's really good with little kids to. My little cousin whose about three came over. When she came through the door he came up to her and licked her face it was so cute... lol sorry... i felt the need to tell ya'll that. But anyway hes really smart, he learns commands fast. He's also protective of us. I dont mean agressive but if he knew something was wrong he would protect us. Just to tell you some about his personality. Anyway Ill put the pics in the next post

My two month old maltese puppy got two of his puppy shots. He was fine until we got home. I left him in his room and went to eat dinner, and when I went back to play with him, he refused to come near me. Is this normal? Or did I do something?

I have a male cat who is about 7 1/2 months old. He used to be good about staying around the house and being there when i go outside to find him and take him inside for the night. but now a lot of the times he just isnt around, nor will he come when i call for him. i recently found him hanging out a few houses down with another cat and refused to let me get him, which is totally not his normal behavoir. i dont think it could be a female cat that is causing him to go away from home becuase i didnt think female cats went in heat during the winter. help?! suggestions?

Police Officer Accused of Killing K-9 Partner

"Take Action" to ask State Attorney to seek maximum sentence

Sergeant Allen Cockfield of the Miami-Dade Police Department was recently charged with felony animal cruelty charges for allegedly kicking his K-9 partner Duke to death during an obedience training exercise with more than a dozen other police dogs and trainers present. The reason, according to an anonymous witness: Duke barked when he wasn't supposed to, so Cockfield hoisted the four-year-old German shepherd by the leash around his neck and repeatedly kicked him in a fit of rage until he lost consciousness. Duke reportedly died later at a veterinary clinic from injuries sustained during the attack.

Following the incident, the Miami-Dade Police Department suspended Cockfield from duty without pay, and opened an internal affairs investigation of his violent actions. After his arrest, Cockfield was released on bail. Miami-Dade police told reporters that Cockfield, a veteran of the force with 27 years experience, is a model officer with a file full of commendations and no history of disciplinary problems. However, with more than two decades of K-9 training under his belt, it is possible that this is just the first time this loose cannon got caught or reported for abusing an animal.

All too often, police officers get away with breaking the law simply because they are police officers. That is why it is especially important that Cockfield be held accountable for his actions -- just like any citizen who commits murder should be. Sentencing guidelines for third degree felony animal cruelty charges call for a maximum of five years in prison, which is actually a small price to pay considering that Cockfield brutally took the life of his young canine companion and partner for something as innocent as an ill-timed bark.

Sergeant Allen Cockfield's trial is scheduled to begin on September 24th. Please write or call prosecuting attorney Isis Perez before then and politely ask that she seek the maximum penalty in the case against Cockfield.

I just lost my beloved Mastiff to a car accident. I miss him so. My mind is like a teeter totter. That breed is so awesome and he is awesome as well.

I thought about Fostering but they have to be very well tempered and good with kids, I have 7.

Turtles are messy and i hate cleaning the water. i want to have a perfect set up where it don't get messy at all. like some sort or drain plug or some auto cleaning tank. you know. how do i make it easy to maintain this turtle. he's smelly and a real mess. I don't know if they any filters or tanks that are made so i don't have to do squat. by the way my turtle's name is turdy. Even sense the turtle was little it always pooped. So it's name is turdy hahahahah, get it?

I have an ex farm cat who's semi wild, had him 2 yrs now, got him 6months old.. He ignores me 99% of the time, won't let me touch him, runs when he sees me, eats only in the shed , the other 1% of the time he comes in the house, acts as though he's the tamest cat in the world, allows me to stroke him, slavers and purrs, u wouldn't believe he was the same cat..
How do u explain his dramatic change in behaviour?
