Saltwater fish caught in the rock pools at Coolum Beach, Qld. Constantly moving and feeding. Has black spot on tail end of it's body, both sides and black spot on its dorsal fin. Hard to get a good picture of it as its very fast.

If possible, please supply a link to a picture so I can compare it with my fishie. Cheers ;-)

Not a Blue gourami, although the black spot near the tail is the same, but a little higher.

Its a white fish with grey vertical stripes, not blue. Black spot on dorsal fin has a patch of yellow behind it.

Damsel, Blackspot Sergant. Thanxs guys. Also, I asked a friend with a marine aquarium business and they said you can but there's a limit per person. Also, NO coral or things like that.

It appears to be something in the damselfish group. The Abudefduf Damsels (esp. the blackspot sargeant) seem to have the most similar markings: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/abudefduf.htm , but damsels can change in appearance as they mature.

As others have suggested, I HIGHLY doubt the fish in the picture is a freshwater gourami caught in a saltwater rock pool in Australia.... but then again, you never know. Perhaps it was looking for Nemo!!

I didn't think it was legal to remove fish from rock pools in Australia. You may want to check local ordinances to ensure you can legally posses that fish. I know that here in Southern California, USA, it's highly illegal to take any creature (dead or alive) from tidal basins, rock pools or beaches.
