When i first got my budgie (3 months ago) he would not eat or drink from the cage feeders. so i put 2 bowls on the cage floor for him and now hes really used to that. I want him to eat from the feeders now because he always spills the cups and makes a mess. Any tips to get him to use the feeders?

The change over should be phased out, remove bowls & observe.leave them out for several hours, when hungry the budgie will look around & may be cautiously approach the feeder. Replace the bowls with a minimum quantity of seed ,just in case he hasn;t eaten. If you have observed him feeding well from the feeder, you can stop replacing the bowls/

Put in the feeders and remove the bowls for a hour hour at a time, switched back after an hour or so. That way he is not without food or water for too long. It might take a week or two, so good luck. I did this for my two cockatiels.

Put food in them and don't put food anyplace else. If he wants to eat, he'll use them. I've never seen a bird who won't use them!!!
