People have started coming to see my dogs puppies, she had 4 labrador mix puppies.. we have put up signs in shops in are area and today we meet a women and daughter who wanted one. We met them on the way home from school, mum picked me up, and showed them the way to our house. Anyway I dont want to give them one of the puppies because well they look really rough and my mum asked did they have any other dogs and they said yes a pitbull. Pitbulls are vicious dogs and i really dont want one of the puppies going to live with them.. my mum agrees but what should we do? My mum said she'd call them when they are ready to go...
I have a funny feeling about them and maybe we could find a better home than theres but what should i do??

Hello All!

I want you to tell me a story today (I have a BA in creative writing, I can't help it!)

Have any of you ever been actively involved in a situation where a dog or other animal needed to be taken away or saved from its owners? I don't mean, necessarily, that you are active in a rescue organization, but maybe something where you saw your neighbor had their dog tied up outside for an unreasonable amount of time and so you reported them, etc.
If so - what happened? Did you call and report or did you take care of it yourself? Did you follow up on the situation if animal control stepped in?
What exactly was the situation and what was the point where you knew you had to step in?
Do you think you did the right thing? Do you know where the animal is now?
Were charges pressed against the owners?

If you are a part of a rescue organization, that's fine - I'd love to hear those stories as well, but I am really interested in individuals who took a stand for an animal.

What is a fair amount to charge to train a 12 week old puppy? (house break, crate train, leash train, tricks) The puppy has lived with us and we supplied all of the food. Training sessions were about 2 hours per day.

its really weird but every time someone visit us at home, he really bark a lot and when we told him not to, he will bite us. Its as if he's telling me that i should allow him on barking. For those who have pug, do you also experience the same? or is it just my pug? :) thanks!

Why or why not?
I have this cat that was born on our door mat 2 years ago. We took care of it and its mom by feeding them (we didn't take them in though, we just gave them chicken scraps and so on). When he grew up he disappeared and returned only last week (with a scardy looking girlfriend).
My brother and I fed the cats. After they ate they lefy. Now they come in a freakish punctual manner. At 6 PM everyday they come looking for dinner.
Would you continue to feed them?
Isn't that worsening the situation by having even more stray cats?
Please tell me what to do...

I had always thought this was because it had worms, but I heard something about the anal glands needing to release the built up secretions inside to give immediate relief and this could cause complications such as infections and ruptured anal glands as a result of this condition going untreated. My dog is only a puppy and she has had fleas, so I figured it was from the fleas and she has worms, not that she would have a problem with anal glands already.

I've read good things about rats as pets. I have a little boy and I'm looking for a small animal that will be entertaining and people friendly. If you let a rat out of its cage, will it socialize or run and hide?

The pond has a waterfall and a submersible pump running all the time so I don't envision the water freezing over. I am just wondering if anyone knows if the plecko fish can survive winter temperatures. We live in Pennsylvania, so it can get very cold in the winter. It is only in the 40s today. Any info anyone has is appreciated.

My wife has been suffering. Approx. 6 weeks ago her left eye became inflamed/red on the inside corner. She has seen her regular doctor (who misdiagnosed) and has returned to a very high profile eye clinic 2x now. Her visit yesterday yieled an interesting diagnosis....she has an "ulcer" on her eye and inflamed lymph nodes. They say this was caused by our new kitten scratching her face.

My wife is demanding we get rid of the cat (we have a child as well) but I can't bring myself to just drop it off at a humane society center. I'd like to take it to the vet and confirm/deny it has any infectious diseases and whether they're treatable. Has anyone else had something similar happen? Resolutions?

when i was living alone, the only one i really needed to care about was my dog Poncho. that was 4 years ago. my little girl Alex is a very small and shy girl. now Poncho has never been hostile to others, but hes a chow chow and i always hear that thats their thing, true? thing is that the two of those play with each other a lot (at least i hope they're playing) they like to play tug o war a lot with the dog toys, like she's a dog or something, but anyways, when Alex is minding her own business and poncho comes and sniffs her, she bops him in the nose which is really cute if you could see it (tiny girl bopping a dog in the nose almost a head bigger then her) but i think that she could really get hurt one day if he decides not to take it any longer or something.

honestly im just really bad at reading both Dogs AND little girls.

I don't really have the money to spend on advantage or frontline, but I can't seem to find anything less expensive that works! Has anyone tried anything that they really like that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My kittens are each 4 months old

I live in a condo area and my neighbors on each side in the last year adopted small dogs that yip and yap at absoloutely anything because they've not been trained and are not walked frequently enough. Any noise will set them off. A fly...a falling leaf...any disturbance or change in their sequestered little world will set them off barking and I'm getting sick of the noise. I love dogs, really I do. But I'm not going to walk my neighbors dogs for them and I doubt I could convince them to watch The Dog Whisperer on Animal Planet and pick up some basic advice on dog training. I'm not so low as to poison the dogs (a heinous crime). But they're a nuisance and I'm reluctant to cause neighbor strife by complaining to the police. The barking is'nt all day or night...just intermittant throughout the day but it is that little yappy dog barking that just pisses you off, you know?. And no-one can exit or enter the front or back without setting off a barking party. Any bright ideas?

I am currently trying to house train my puppy and one of the confusing aspects is what to do when you catch your puppy in the act of peeing inside. Some say to scold the puppy and make it a big deal. Others say that scolding will only make it worse. What is, in your opinon, the best thing to do if you catch your puppy in the act of peeing inside? Some say I should pick her up and rush her outside but that would involve putting on my shoes and coat, and by then she's already well finished. Thanks for your help.

A friend of mine gave me a 45gal fish tank and the filter, stand, and hood. I bought new black fine gravel. Washed it, and put it in the tank. The water is cloudy from the gravel, will that go away or do I need to drain it and add more water? Also I want to get some fire eels, should I get 1 and something else or 3 and my some dinoes and 1 or 2 pleco's.

Thanks,

I know the most popular one is pedigree. But is there any other cheaper but good quality dog food. Perhaps 'Alpo'. What about treats? Can I use the dog food as well? Or can I use treats with no brand?

What age is apropriate for the exchange? Should I buy a whole big pack of dog food or smaller packs?

Please answer.
