I don't really have the money to spend on advantage or frontline, but I can't seem to find anything less expensive that works! Has anyone tried anything that they really like that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. My kittens are each 4 months old

What do you call expensive?
My cousin and I get Frontline for our cats from a site. You get a 3 month supply for like $26-$31. I just got mine in the mail yesterday. I've used Advantix (sp?) and I swear it made it worse. I've never seen so many fleas and this was something the vet put on him.
Here the site if you wanna check it out:

If you have taken in pets, then it's probably a good idea to go the extra mile and spend the money on good products... fleas are host to tapeworms, so while your cats have fleas, they are probably infected with tapeworm, as well.

Getting this problem under control now, will save you money in the future. If you use a product which is cheap, and doesn't irridicate the fleas all together, it will be a viscious cycle you will have to repeat time and time again, and will cost you more money in the long run.

Treating your cats for a few months, and getting rid of the flea problem once and for all is your best bet... if they are indoor cats, you shouldn't have much problem in the future; however if they go in and out, you need to do some sort of monthly treatment to protect them and YOUR home from infestation.

P.S. and if lemon fresh JOY soap gets rid of fleas, i won't use it on my dishes anymore.. i really doubt that is true.

you're able to purchase Revolution out of your vet. it somewhat is risk-free for cats 8 weeks and up. My kitten had fleas....whilst the vet placed Revolution on her neck, the fleas actually basically fell off of her physique. whilst she have been given up after a snooze, there have been piles of lifeless fleas. After a pair of days of this she substitute into flea-loose! it somewhat is style of costly....$14 a tube. inspite of the undeniable fact that it absorbs real into the exterior. there's no residue and no scent (I haaaaaate the way Biospot smells). If a kitten licks yet another kitten's neck and gets some in her mouth, the worst which will take place is she would be waiting to foam on the mouth for a rapid collectively as and consistent with threat vomit. The kittens won't get poisoned by potential of oral ingestion.

Flea comb should help you... but also either wash or throw away the stuff the kittens have been sleeping on as it is probably full of flea larvae... and clean your house as well, no matter how many times you treat the kittens for fleas it doesnt matter if there are fleas still lurking in the carpets and furnishings...so vacuum thoroughly for a week or so...
Good luck, I had the same problem earlier this year... :)

First, give it s bath with a good flea shampoo... This will kill quite a bit of the fleas.

Depending on the age of the kitten, make sure it is a shampoo made for kittens.

If the kitten is too young for the flea medications that go on the back of the neck, keep giving her/him a flea bath with the shampoo every week.

This worked for my two kittens, plus the shampoo makes their fur so soft and smell really nice.

I discovered years ago, it is best to just do it myself. Went to the pet store and bought a little flea comb, and sit and groom the animals myself. A little tip that most don't know > drop the fleas off the comb into "soapy" water< and they can't get out and die. It does take a few minutes to master the flea comb, don't give up! Hope this works!

my sister is a vet tech and she told me when i got my little stray kitten that i should use pamolive to get rid of fleas. i gave him a bath and a lot of the fleas died. then i had a little flea comb and got more out like that. once a week or so i did the bath until they were all gone. although when your kitty gets big enough you should get him/her Revolution it protects against fleas, heartworms and ticks.

there's a flea comb. it has really really tiny tongs, so when you brush through the cat's fur, the flea can't just fit through the tongs and so it pops off. then once you see it pop off you gotta be quick and grab it so you can flush it down the toilet or pop off it's head or drop it in a jar of rubbing alcohol. you can ask a groomer about them and probably find them at any pet store. it just means a lot of work with combing through the fur and catching all the fleas.
