The one cat picks up the scent of other cats from the vet's office on the other cat. This is not unusual behavior, the one will think it IS a new cat in the house for a while. I always keep my cats away from each other for at least a day if a there was a recent trip to the vet.

When a cat comes home from the vet, it smells very different. In the wild cats that live in packs cannot afford for the group to get sick. If one smells different, it may be sick, and they try to force it away from the others. Try to separate them for a while 48-72 hours, or you may try to use Feliway. The hissing and spitting is a natural reaction, and it will pass.
