My kitty "Twinkle" loves to play fetch. Twinkle will run after a toy mouse, fetch it, and bring it right to my feet! Just like a dog :)

Just give lots of attention, and treats, and cats can be trained right? Anyone have ideas on training cats I'd love to hear experiences.

My vet took a blood test and said my little Mini Pin Dog is anemic. Low red blood cells. He is only 8 years. He is an indoor dog and does not have fleas or ticks. Does anyone know what I can do for him to get better faster? (besides the good Multi Vitamin and Minerals I give him) He lost most of his energy and seems so sad and inactive. Thanks

I have recently discovered that my cats have fleas. I was wondering if flea collars prevent them from getting fleas or can they also get rid of fleas as well?

My friend has recently set up a tropical tank, cycled etc and finally bought some fish. He has bought some neon tetras and guppies but also 2 red crabs. I have no experience with crabs but these do not look happy - they are sitting still at the bottom of the tank (4 days) and occasionally fall on their backs. You can see the under section of the shell moving up and down.
Is this because they need aquarium salt in the water ?
Will aquarium salt be bad for the fish ?
Please help !!

I just found out today that it's not safe to vaccinate a pregnant cat.....and last week my pregnant cat received her rabies, feline panleukopenia, feline rhinotracheitis, feline calicivirus and feline chlamydia shots....with the vet fully aware that she was pregnant. Today I spoke with another vet and they told me to contact my vet and get the manufactioners name and contact them as to what the possiable birth defects could be....I'v been trying to contact my vet all day with no luck....so I'm really worried...I'm very excited about these kittens coming so I'm just wondering if anyone can give me any insight to this or if someone else has gone through this. (I am continuing to try to reach my vet.)

He turns away and won't open his mouth. He doesn't chew on the greenies or anything. We tried, but he won't let us clean his mouth in anyway and yelps. I let him taste the toothpaste and he likes it, but other than that, no advancement. What can I do?

I am shocked by the number of people in this section who own unaltered dogs, and do nothing to prevent pregnancy. My dogs are all altered, but I know some people own intact animals and sucessfully prevent unwanted litters. What do you do to keep your intact animals from breeding?

We've just got a kitten recently (3 month old) and I swear, his mission is to KILL our other cat (1 year old)! LOL. Our other cat is such a soft touch, he just minds his own business but the kitten jumps on him, biting etc. My other cat defends himself by biting back until the kitten squeals...but then 20 seconds later the kitten's back for more! They chase each other a lot (playing), mainly the kitten chasing, but then it gets out of hand sometimes.

What should we do? We don't want the kitten to get hurt, is there any way of stopping him attacking? The main reason why we got the kitten is for a play mate for the other cat...

I thought we'd have a problem with the other cat accepting the little cute kitten, but it's the other way around (lol)

Would you apply certain conditions to keeping the animal?

Two years ago, we had a "big black dog" in our yard out in the country. On approach, she growled at my husband. I sat on the step and she came right to me. We put an ad in the paper for a week and she went unclaimed. She was strictly an outside dog, always came when called, did lots of tricks (loves catching a frisbee), good w/ the kids and never barked in the house.

Then she went missing. By the grace of God, she was found both times. Both times, someone picked her up. She became an inside dog.

Here she sits, officially our dog, our baby. She's been awesome! She scares people away (intimidating to see a black lab mix barking at you) but if they were to put their hand out, she just might lick you or nudge you for a scratch.

In February, she gave birth to 10 pups ~ 9 went to good homes and we kept one. Three months later, she was spayed. The male we kept is on docket for neutering.

My Kitty has Chronic Renal Failure and has to receive sub-q fluids under her skin. I don't administer the fluids myself, I have my vet do it. My vet charges me $38.00 each time I have the fluids administered, this does not include the cost of the fluids themselves. I called around to other vets in my area and some charge $57.00 some charge $37 etc.. but I also found a few that only charge $5.00 or $5.50. Anyone know why these amounts are so drastically different? Should I trust a place that is charging so much less? Please help! I want the best care for my baby girl, but I also need to be able to afford it.

Not sure if you saw this yet, but Mutts and Moms in Pasadena, California have completely lost their mind. There is a story on Yahoo about Ellen DeGeneres and how she adopted this puppy from them, after discovering the puppy didn't get along with her cats, she decided it would be best to give Iggy (the puppy) to a good loving home, her hairdresser. Well because she signed an agreement (which I am sure could have been renegotiated somehow) Mutts and Moms went to the hairdressers home and pretty much ripped the dog out from under them away from the loving family, including the two daughters! It made soo many people upset! Below is a link to the story and the video, which you need to watch.

I bought her a new cage for her a little while ago and it has a different type of water bottle. She used to drink out of her old one all the time, but I've never seen her drink out of her knew one and it's always seems to be at the same level. How can I be sure she's getting enough water?

shed more tears putting down your beloved pet then over getting an abortion? I grew up with a dog, but she was just a dog, a mutt, a house pet. It was sad when the dog died at 13, but I'm not one of these PETA people or animal nuts and I'm not one of these anti-abotion nuts either, I'm in the middle. However, I have known many people through work and social interactions over the years who have point blank told me that they like dogs more than kids and value dogs more than babies. I think that is totally whacked thinking. I'm not in favor of animal cruelty or anything, but I certainly feel that human life should be held higher than that of pets.

I have a half grown kitten and I've had him for 2 weeks. A few days ago I noticed when he uses the litter pan now he doesn't cover up his poop. Instead he scratches on the side of walls of the litter pan. The problem with him doing this is the poop is just sitting there on top and the litter isn't absorbing the odor. Can anyone tell me why he would suddenly stop covering it up?

This past Friday, Roxy got a cut on her hind leg. Now she needs 2-3 sutures (stitches) to close the wound. The wound is pretty severe and it borders an artery. If I do not get the surgery, the artery may become infected. Although it is only stitches she will need to be sedated, hospitalized for half the day, and have blood work done before anesthesia. The entire cost for the 15 minute surgery has been estimated between $420 and $460. This estimate is from an animal hospital, where I also paid $49 just to have her examined. Our regular vet does not have any open time slots. This surgery cannot wait much longer but I also cannot afford it. I can pay up to $200 and I am willing to leave a $100 deposit up front. But nearly $500 I cannot afford! The hospital does not offer a payment plan other than deposit up front and pay in full at time of pick up. I have already called several other vets who charge about the same. What should I do?

I got my Betta about a week ago, and as soon as i set up his tank i fed him 3 pellets he only ate One and the rest sank to the bottom, now i only try giving him one and he swims quickly up to it brings it into his mouth and then spits it out... he looks relitivly Healthy he swims and moves alot.. but then i noticed he might have FIN ROT!!!!!!! his fins dont look damaged in anyway he just had black on them but its hard to tell because he has a dark face.. so it might be just his Colouring?? Anyways what can i feed him other than pellets? i read that bettas only eat pellets when they are STARVING.. i know there is bloodworms and shrimp brines? but that stuff constipates them and are only treats? right?... Oh and hes not constipated i know that forsure... Also how can i treat this possible fin rot? i read that a bit of Aquarium salt works.. but is that even true?

Why do so many people recommend Beneful when people ask for a good pet food?

now, the first ingredient is the main ingredient...then on down the line.

Also, Corn is EXTREMELY bad for dogs...

yet here is beneful's main ingredients

First ingredient... Ground yellow CORN,

That's the main ingredient!! Next is...

chicken by-product meal , CORN gluten meal, whole wheat flour, (FYI By product as in beaks, feathers, not actual meat)

oh how about these ingredients...

flour, sugar, sorbitol, tricalcium phosphate, water, salt, phosphoric acid,

or

added color (Yellow 5, Red 40, Yellow 6, Blue 2)

Meat doesn't even play a part in the main ingredients (other than animal digest)... why do people still feed/recommend Beneful as healthy?

why are people so up on Beneful and so down on Blue Buffalo whose main ingredients are...

Chicken, Chicken Meal, Whole Ground Brown Rice

or Innova whose main ingredients are Turkey, Chicken, Chicken meal, so on

explain?

I have a 5 month old male kitten named "Monster." Monster is FIV positive (shelter kitty) and I watch his behaviour VERY closely for this reason...I've noticed that after a bit of rough-housing, he often plops down with a VERY heavy "SIGH"...now, I've had other cats and I've NEVER known them to do this...is this normal?? I'm worried that it might indicate some type of respriatory troubles...any thoughts? Of course, I've got a vet appt. scheduled for next week, but thought I might ask around in here beforehand! Thanks for any and all input!
