"A study reported in August 2006 revealed that a parasitic microbe commonly found in cats might actually manipulate the personalities of infected people....Toxoplasma gondii can make some people more prone to anxiety, insecurity, or depression. Interestingly, the microbe is thought to have different, and often opposite, effects on men versus women..."
So it MAY be true that a parasite may cause owners to change their mental thoughts (personalities) but NOT a fungus and certainly no mental problems (unless you have depression). BUT I love my cat and would never even consider getting rid of a pet because of this. Remember, it's only a STUDY and dogs may even have this sort of parasite.

Cats can have ringworm, which is a fungal infection. Does not cause mental problems though!

yes there is a fungus like that, i have it on my left nipple. I have mental problems also. my assistant, Jane, is typing this right now at my mental hospital. Jane is a very nice lady, and she is very hot. back to th fungus, it is 100% real and my left nipple is 3 times its size because of it it just grows and grows and grows!!! Its very fun to play with when i am bored but it hurts also sometimes. the doctor says to have it removed immediatley, but i like it hope your cat gets better and you get better from your mental problems!!
