My roomate got this dog and said it was a purebred Pomeranian. I don't know anything about dogs but I looked up a Pomeranian online and it looked nothing like this dog. Anyone know what it could be?

Don't have facebook, So can't see the pic.

Thanks for the link..

Does not look like purebred pom. But could also be a poorly bred pom or pom mix too. HIs ears are not really diamond shaped either.

One of our males is almost the same coloring, just a little lighter. He is considered Sable. He is our largest pom he weighs almost 8 lbs the rest are between 3 1/2 and 6 lbs.

ADD: Nose and coat do not nessasarily mean anything . Poms can have real fluffy coats ,some are thinner and some lay almost flat on their backs. Their noses, some are very small and some are larger and squarer then others.

Either way if you love your dog and can properly care for it. who cares if it is a purebred or a mix.

that looks like a pom mix but not purebred. usually poms are fluffier and much smaller but she is still a qt! and to whoever said it was a "pet quality" pom is wrong- the coat has nothing to do with quality, as all different colors for poms are recongized by the AKC to be considered show quality and any pom under 7 pds

Sorry, I don't have a Facebook account and can not view the photo.

ADD:
Thank you for the other link. It looks like an oversized pet quality Pomeranian. The color looks like it could be either Sable, Brindle or brown. It very well could be purebred, but very poor quality-possibly from a puppymill or BYB. One of my poms has more of a longer pointed nose rather than a shorter square one. Some people refer to them as either a Foxy Pom (pointed snout as like a fox) or Teddy Bear Pom. (shorter snout as like a bear) You can check the colors here:

Hello. I have two Pom/Maltese crosses, both female from the same litter. You would never know they are litter mates by looking at them! Your dog is definitely a Pomeranian cross. It looks to me like he/she could have some sheltie blood. I am no expert but this is one good looking dog for you to love!

That definitely doesn't look purebred to me but who cares about dogs being purebred. Mixed breeds give you just as much love

It may not be a well-bred Pom, but it does look like a Pom. The coloring would be considered "Sable" I think.

ADDED:
Sable:

As I said, maybe not well-bred, but I would believe purebred. What does the tail do when it's standing/alert?

It's definatly not a purebred Pomeranian. I don't know what it is, maybe some foriegn breed or cross.
