Pets - 8 October 2007

Hello I was just wondering if anyone knew what was wrong with my dog, i've looked here but no many cases match mine. It all started a few days ago when she messed in the house (shes 7 years old and has never done it before). She had diarrhea. The next day she her diarrhea was not as bad, but she was constantly licking her privates. Now today she has no energy at all, sleeping all day and hasn't moved off the couch. Today was Thanksgiving in Canada and shes usually waiting out at the oven for it to be done, but this year she just slept on the couch, didn't even care and when we try to play with her she just lies there, I'm really starting to get worried. Taking to the vet is last option because it is really expensive. Any help / suggestions apreciated.

So due to home foreclosing for six months my husband and I had to sublet an apartment while we got back on our feet. When this happened we had two INDOOR cats. My husband's mother offered to let them stay with them for the last few months and we told her not to let them outside as we didn't want them to be outdoor cats and she said ok. Well just like she always did she didn't listen to us and never even lets them inside but to eat (she says because they 'wanted' outside and its mean to make them stay inside)- my female cat sleeps outside. My cats have been back home for a week now and are GOING crazy not being able to go outside- they wont stop screaming and scratching at the door and are so pissed; I live on a highway and don't want them to get ran over. Any tips on what do to- my husband thinks they need a new home where they can go outside because they will never get over it. But I have hope....

We saw a sign that said "free kittens" yesterday and it was very sad. We took one home. She appeared clean, but today, I picked her up and saw fleas on her belly. There were at least 5 or 6 that I could see, but I never saw fleas before. I bathed her in flea shampoo, put a collar on her and my other two cats (fyi: I never let my cats outside at all), sprayed the sofa, rugs and bedding with household spray by Hartz, and I'm washing all my bedding (the cat slept on my bed last night). Maybe this is overkill, as the cat has been home with us for only about 24 hours, but I know nothing about this! Did I do enough, and if not, any suggestions? I have hardwood floors through most of the house and plan on vacuuming/mopping tonight (was going to do this anyway).

The two funniest I can remember is when he discovered a hedgehog.

And the other good one, was when he learnt to swim. He saw a duck and didnt know algea from grass.

She's getting old and does not look like a "Sugar" to me anymore. "Salty" fits her look and personality much better. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

My cat has a little lump in her stomach. she just got it, i've never felt it before when i would pet her. she's been sweeter than usual. my "friend" told me it was because she knows shes going to die. great friend right? but my mom said it could be because shes about to go into heat and it could possibly go away.
whats wrong? =/

My vet has been charging me $99 per six month supply of Revolution for my two small pets (prevents heartworms & flea/tick infestation). This equates to $396 per year for both animals. I found the same medication, I think, online at Joe's Pet Meds for $55 per six month supply w/ free shipping. This would equate to a savings of $176 per year, which I think is pretty substantial. I looked into several online retailers and I thought this one looked like the most reputable although it is located in Austrailia... I know I can't be charged with a crime as this type of pet medication is available over the counter. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I had to put my 19y/o dog to sleep yesterday and I miss him so much.His kidneys were failing and yesterday he was in so much pain that we had to let him go.We got to the vet and had him run some tests,which confirmed that his kidneys were not functioning at all.My wife couldn't stand to be in the room when he was put to sleep,so she kissed and hugged him then went crying into the lobby.There was no way I was going to let him be alone when this happened, so I held him in my lap and petted him while the Doctor gently gave him the shot.I think he knew what was happening,because he looked me in the eyes,reached up and kissed my nose,then he put his little head down and was gone within a minute.I'm in my late 30's and consider myself a tough guy,I've been an iron worker for over 20 years,but when that 12 pound dog passed away in my arms I was crying like a baby.I had to take the day off today because I am just so torn up emotionally about this.Does anyone know a way to cope with this?

One of my kittens got abandoned by its mother 3 days ago and it is dying. It wont drink the bottle I feed it with milk replacement, it wont walk, meow, or move. The other kittens are running around all over the place and this one just does nothing but lay there and breathe. I feel so bad because nothing I do works, and even when it is wrapped in a blanket it is ice cold. I do not have the money to take it to a vet, but I cannot stand to see it suffer like this. What should I do?

I have a 5 month old ferret and she has been itching herself alot so I got her some flea spray and she is still itching. So me and my friends stopped by petco just to check out tha animals and I ended up asking one of tha guys that work there why she was itching so bad even after i put tha flee spray on her. He said it might be dry skin and to wash her but I wash her once a week and I don't want tha shampoo and "conditioner" will bother her skin if I wash her 2 times a week. What else might cause her to itch like that and what can I do about it?

My cat has cuts under his chin. My vet said it was cat acne and we shouldn't use plastic bowls to feed him. I switched to metal and he still gets them. I am unsure what to do. He does not go outside. Where can he be getting these cuts from.

My parents have 8 dogs, with a Miniature Schnauzer as the smallest. She is 3 years old and for the last year and a half she has had problems going to the bathroom in the house. My parents tried crating her at night but she is now going to the bathroom in the crate. Now, she goes inside even after being let outside. Any help would be appreciated, as my parents now want to get rid of her.

Our Boston terrier/ Boxer mix is so over the top hyper. We have tried changing diet and nothing has worked. Someone said Benadyrl could work on those days when we need him to be more calm. We walk him so much and he just doesnt stop. We have a 8 wek old pup and we don't want the pup getting hurt.
