It's smaller than the size of my palm, which is very small. I found it all alone, and I searched for a mama cat or other kittens and couldn't find any. It's eyes are really gunky, and it's absolutely terrified. I can't get it to drink or eat anything, and the vets in town are closed for Memorial Day. What should I do?

I just got a 9 week old kitten and she's got bright blue eyes, is this likely to change as she gets older? I know human babies usually have blue eyes when they're born and that changes in the first few years so I wondered if cats were the same...

I recently moved from NY to FL ( stupid move) and my 6 year old cat had an upper respitory infection. I brought him to a new vet and he treated the infection... at the same time however he claimed he heard a heart murmur and then said an x ray was in order to make sure the heart looked normal. I went for it. The heart was fine, however the vet said the murmur is probably due to hypertension. HE tested the cat's blood pressure and found it to be higher than normal....
Am I being taken for a ride here? Could my cat just have been nervous at a new vets office? I mean people have white coat hypertension, why couldn't cats?

I have a banded cat shark that will not eat. He is about a year old and for the passed two months has wanted to eat, but cannot swallow due to a sore throat. Pet specialists told me to add iodine to the water and that worked for about 2 weeks but stopped. He ate fine ever since birth. I feed him shrimp squid and clams, etc and I think he may have a goiter, sometimes he manages to swallow a piece but hes getting very skinny, can anyone relate or help me out? I clean my tanks well and he shares the 150 gallon with an eel so they both have plenty of space.

our desert tortoise is covered with a white, chalky "fungus" on his shell. It started at his tail and in a day or so was all over the shell. We bathed him and washed it off. Any info on this?

We have a blue crowned conure. He is about 3 years old and was given to us by a schizophrenic lady.

Occasionally he exhibits this odd behaviour we affectionately have labeled 'zooning' - his pupils go to pin pricks, he spreads his wings and neck feathers a little and sort of sways like a cobra being snake charmed - whilst hooting and making excitable noises. It's like a trance.

Typically this is when we are vacuuming, when we have just come in from work, or you can sometimes make him do it by showing him a painting, poster or large magazine picture, and gently waving it in front of him. Whether it's excitement, fear, or hypnosis it's pretty funny!

They keep posing as concerned dog owners, bashing everyone that they call backyard breeders (those who do not mass produce dogs like they do), trying to convince everyone that only they breed for the good of the breed, that shelters are filled with dogs produced by other people (never them) and that no one else carefully plans their litters. If their only concern is betterment of the breed and not making money, why don't they give their puppies away for free? And why push their agenda through "questions"? And why get so angry and start **** at people who disagree with them?

*Which brand do you prefer?
*Where did you get it?
*How much did it cost?
*Can you take it out with ease when you don't need it?

I'm sorry I have so many questions, but I want to be a well informed buyer....Thanks!

I just caught an early episode of "The Golden Girls," and Rose (Betty White) had a rooster that played "Old McDonald had a farm" on a little toy piano.

Does anyone know how a chicken (or rooster) can be taught to play a piano?

New pet owners are just that. New pet owners. The people who use this site to ask questions are looking for answers, not insults or name calling. We wouldn't do that to our dogs. I remember my first dog and I was clueless. Everyone has to start at the beginning and to call someone irresponsible for asking questions is to be irresponsible. Those people came to this website for help, not harassment. Instead we should be offering support, solutions and mostly teaching them when, where and what to ask their vet. We should also be teaching them what to keep in the house for emergencies and for day to day things.
Remember the day you got your first dog and remember how clueless you were.
Sorry for the rant, but I find it troublesome that people would condemn someone as being irresponsible for askinng questions.

My mother gave me "Baby", a 3 year old chihuahua, for christmas, and i love her and everything, but its been hard to train her. I walk her very often, and she usually eliminates outdoors, but sometimes she comes back inside and still continues eliminating on our rug. On top of that, she eats her own feces. At the adoption center we were told the dog was rescued from an abusive and neglectful breeder, and most of her life she's been in a cage, so it's a easier to understand that behavior, but the smell of her urine has consumed my rug, and my mother is now threatening to return my dog to the shelter. i've done everything but crate training because i think that would just be plain cruel considering her past. But can anyone give me suggestions as to what i can do about this? how i can effectively train her or products you reccomend i use to train her?

i have tried puppy pee pads already
i was told to try ammonia. didnt work

I was told @ 1 year for height and @ 2 yrs for filling out.
I have a black lab mix, just turned 1, is 30 inches at the shoulder and now weighs 92 lbs.
Just curious how much larger he might get? He was a stray puppy, weight 8 lbs when I found him.
