Lots of people with mild allergies still have pets. I do! If you get a lovebird, don't keep it in the room where you sleep. Make sure you provide a place for it to bathe frequently as this will help keep the dander down. Keep his cage and accessories spotlessly clean...change the papers every day! It can be done if you are serious. You may have to take extra antihistamines if the bird bothers you.

Love birds may be cute but before you get one learn what they are like.
First off love birds can be very aggresive and they have a very hard bite. They are very loud so unless you have one that is hand trained you will have a loud cute biting machine.
If you are allergic to a love bird you are probably allergic to most birds. Check with your doctor.
I agree they are cute and they can be very loving but it takes a lot of work and alot of your time. My advice would be to get a baby that has been raised either hand raised or held alot while it was with its parents.
My friend has a pair that have just had a peach face and it is still with the parents but it has gotten his feathers. We are holding it several times a day so it will be accostom to the human hands and attention. This way the bird will not be afraid of its owners. the older the bird the harder it is to tame them.

Ask yourself if your health is really worth it. We all want something we cannot have for one reason or another. Lovebirds do better as a pair. At times you can get lucky and wind up with two females that are happy together. Two birds more allergen, later in life asthma. I'm sorry you have allergies, but your health must come first.

There are several pets considered 'hypo-alergenic' ?

Talk to your local pet authority, maybe they can find you just the right pet that will not get you started on medication you would normally not need.

Birds NEED companionship and it would be unhealthy for the bird if he could not get close to his/her companion.

When I was tested for cats, it was a couple of hundred bucks. My friend shot some video of his cat, and whenever I feel like I need a pet, I pop in the tape. No fuss, no muss, no poop, no extra bucks. I didn't want to put out the $ for medicine for me and have to take it constantly.

HELLO just because you want something doesn't mean that you have to have it.
Put your brain in gear.... What does it tell you? Follow your brain, not your emotions.

Get a picture and hang it in your bedroom.

Good luck
