An Algae Eater or Pleco will not hurt the Betta, neither will the betta be agressive against it. Good combination, though not a good team :-)

It depends somewhat on what kind of algae eater you have really. If it's a pleco then you will be just fine putting them together. If however it's a Chinese Algae Eater (CAE) you will have problems before long at all. CAE,'s get large and get aggressive and will begin causing other fish in the tank hassles. The smaller and slower moving the fish, then better the target. Bettas are fairly small and due to the long fins quite slow moving. As the CAE ages it will eventually kill the betta.

O YEA, from first hand experience I had a male Betta and a, algae eater in the same tank for over a year now. They get along great, they won't fight and they make great friends. So yea put them in the same tank, they will be OK.
Good Luck!

Yeah an algae eater and Beta should be fine. You can't put 2 beta's together. They will fight until 1 or both die.

Funny story: I had a beta in my room when I was young and everytime I would play a certain song by the Bangles it would swim to the beat of the song. No lie.

Algae eaters have thinks skin and aren't overly stressed by other aggressive fish. I had a Jack Dempsey and a algae eater together though and the Jack Dempsey killed the algae eater. I think a beta should be fine, watch them if they fight a lot remove one or use a tank seperator.

When I had mine, I was told to to make sure if I mixed it with another fish that it isn't or couldn't get bigger then the beta.

The other thing that you have to be sure of is that the pooh of either fish isn't toxic to the other. I would call a local pet store like Pet Smart and ask them just to be sure.

Yup! This will work fine. Just make sure your tank set-up (filter, etc) can handle the poop from both fish.
