Pets - 5 January 2007

It is not fair becuase my dad has had pets his whole life. My mom doesn't like them though even though her father is a Veterinarian. She thinks that I won't take care of it, but I know that I will. Another problem is that we travel a lot so we need to give our pets to someone but the thing is that our friends would be on vacation too. What can I do to convince my mother to get me a pet?

Hello ladies and gents! I just wanted to know if a Boston terrier can be aggresive. I live in a bad neighborhood and if someone tries to attack me,I want my dog to go in to action, and go into attack mode. So can an Boston terrier be a protective dog?

We have a neutered, male, 1 year old cat and a 1 year old female cat. Within the past week, the male has started to meow continually at our attic door and at our front door (both of which are right next to our bedroom) between 5AM and 9AM and at other intervals throughout the day. He always has dry food and I always get up at 6AM to feed him wet food. He has toys, he has a friend (our female cat), we open windows for him so that he can look outside, we pet him and give him more attention than he even wants. He has everything that he could possibly need. We are very, very tired and really need some uninterrupted sleep. What can we do?

I live in an apartment and my next door neighbors rescued a pitbull about a week ago.I share a backyard with these neighbors,and of course my dogs go out there.My dogs haven't met the pitbull yet,but my lab mix is weird,and growls at people,and the neighbors have kids.I know pitbulls are loyal and protective.What should I do?Also,do you think that when I go outside the dog will think I'm in it's territory,and feel threatened?Thanks for all answers!

My native language is spanish and despite I have a decent english level... there is many things that nobody is being able to answer, like Why in the books for training dogs they alway talk about them as a "she" or "her"... I thing is because "pet" it's a female word... but I'm not sure!!!!

I've had her for 5 years now well over 5 years about to be 6 years but she was just sitting on my computer chair and she's done this alot so it got me mad and i spun the chair so she would get off and then she did but she got mad because i saw her swinging her tail when she ran out of my room. I really didn't mean to do that its just thats my chair. I'm scared that she'll run away after what i did..she did run away once and i thought i lost her for good but she came bacc 4 days later! We have recently bought a new tropical fish tank and nothing seems to be going right! Initial tank set up seems to have been fine and we left at least a week before adding the fish, which we did gradually over a couple of weeks and added the neccessary treatments.

Firstly a few of our fish got whitespot, which we have been treating with the correct treatment (but not yet cleared). Also we have two lobsters, who have killed and eaten both of our silver sharks and 1 angelfish! (we are now giving them the correct food so hopefully this won't happen again... or as much!) and now another of our angelfish seems to be dying, he is almost motionless and lies at the bottom of the tank. Does anyone know what is wrong? it doesn't look to me like the filter is working effieciently & there tiny white bits and bits of plants floating everywhere! we are using a Juwel filter system. Please help!
