We've had him for a week now and he's afraid of everything: he doesn't come when we call him (seems to think we're tricking him?), he is afraid of his leash, afraid of new people and dogs, afraid of loud noises.

Is this just because it's a new environment?

A couple days ago he was eager to explore the house, but now he seems to think of the couch as his "safe zone" and won't leave without us coaxing him.

What would cause this behavior regression?

OK ALL MY adult female quails have started to loose neck feathers or back feathers. i was wondering could it be caused by the eggs using up all the calcium. or are they loosing them from mating? there are 2 females and lay lay about 4 eggs in about a day and a half.

well last mon. (dec 25) he was acting like his usual self, and he was robust, but the next day,he suddenly didnt wanna eat..he walks very slowly and meows as if in hes pain.and he constantly tries to eliminate even if nothing comes out, this is the 2nd time ive noticed him doing that the 1st one was last month..i really wanted to save him coz as per my research that syptom is indicative of a severe urinary infection or blockage and it said that it needs to be treated ASAP! my dad wont take him coz to the vet coz its expensive and he doesent like cats, only dogs so he doesent wanna waste money coz he said that it will eventually die anyway even if we take him to the vet , just like our other dogs, and he told me that, "that's life"..heck what if its still curable?this is only the 1st day..and hes only 2 yrs old..if i didnt blow all of my money i would take him to the vet myself..so should i just hope for the best or convince my dad until he gives in?? is there a public hospital for animals?

I found a puppy about two years ago on the road. I took him in and he has always had a mean streak in him. He has had the rabbies shot. He growls and snaps, but never has bitten anyone. I tried disciplining the dog and it seems to have made things worse. He doesn't trust me at all now. I'm pretty much set on having him laid down to sleep. I have a young child in the home with me and it scares us. Could obedience school help? Could I do something that would regain his trust in me and become a nice, sweet dog? Or should I just lay him down to sleep? I really wouldn't like giving him away because he could turn on that person. And I would hate the thought of him being in a gas chamber at the pound. I also refuse to take him for a "ride" because I wouldn't want him having searching for food, shelter, and such. He's a very small dog, most likely a mix of terrier and jack russel. He's muscular and quite fast.

We have a 9 year old female cat who is the princess of the house. When my boyfriend and i moved in he also had a female cat and they just didnt get along.. our friend adopted our younger female cat. We are wondering if our older cat will accept a male kitten. The vet said females and males get along better... Has anyone had the same experience?

My chihuahua had to have a cesarean today after a long labor, when we got home she laid down with the puppies but looked at them as if they were aliens. After the drugs wore off she rejected them, she refuses to lay with them, when I force her, she growls at them and even attempts to bite them. I called my vet and he told me it was common and couldn't give me any advice on how to make her want to care for them, he just said to make sure they feed off of her for the first 24 hours, then they would need to be bottle fed every 3-4 hours. I am willing to do this, but I wish she would be a mother to these little guys. Thanks in advance for your advise.

Is it normal that my male eclectus parrot is horny? lol, from time to time you can catch him masturbating on his perch in his cage and if you're not careful he'll get fresh with you! It's not often but i'm assuming its normal?

This happened a while ago and has since not been a problem but I've always still wondered why it happened. I left my little quaker parrot, who i've had for years, one day for about a couple hours and when I came back there was blood all over his cage and he was missing a toenail and it was bleeding. We stopped the bleeding but for the next couple of days he continued to pluck out his toenails and bleed everywhere. Then, once they grew back in he left them alone other than the normal preening and cleaning as my other parrot does. Does anyone know what may have caused him to rip his little birdy toenails out? He is a well socialized and taken care of bird and he gets lots of attention and love and we are able to leave him alone when we need to to go somewhere without worrying about him. He's never done it since either. Just that one time! it was very scary too! But since he's been fine. If we want to leave the house for the day he's fine too. I just never why a bird would do this?

We are about to start to attempt crate trainging our Yorkie. He is 12 wks old. I have a crate that I used for my German Shepherd. Its a standard size big dog crate. I was wondering if the size of the crate matters when crate training. Also, does anyone have any tips, its been 8 years since I crate trained my German Shepherd, and he was SIMPLE to train. The yorkie seems to pee or poop on the go and keeps on bouncing.

I want to buy something I can attach to my existing wood fence that bends into the yard. My dog jumps the fence, I don't want to use an electrical solution. Anybody have anything like this? If so, where can I buy?
