As a guide, b1tches come into season about 4 months after whelping. i.e. approx 6 months from the last season. A b1tch who is in season, and at her most fertile time, will mount another b1tch. This is nothing to do with dominance, it's her natural reproductive instinct, no male around, hump a female. Sorry, but it's what dogs do. She should defintely NOT be spayed at a time when hormones are in turmoil. Midway between seasons is the veterinary recommended time to spay. B1tches don't normally get sick when on heat, although they do have the same problem that humans do during pregnancy. Morning sickness!

She should go into heat SOON!! Heat cycles should be about 6 months apart, so counting her pregnancy as 2 months, she's due for one.

If by sick, you are talking about vomiting, she may be showing the signs of early pregancy. Some dogs are not on an exact 6 month schedule, and she could have already gotten impregnated!

You should get her spayed ASAP, or at least keep her away from males for the next month. If she were to get pregnant for 2 consectutive heat cycles, she could have bad health problems!

She is probably humping her daughter to show dominance. It could also be a display that she is in heat or about to go into heat.

i think that maybe you should try and teach your dog not to mate with her offspring and I don't think dogs can get sick when they are on heat......

But may I say to everyone who says that this lady should get her dog spayed: How would you like it if you had a child and then someone came up to you and said you should get spayed, because the world is overpopulated? Let the lady do as she pleases, she asked whether dogs can get sick, not whether she needs the dog spaying.......

Happy New Year

You should have her spayed, it's better then having a lot of puppies that can't find homes and having them destroyed by the pound. The dog is NOT trying to mate her daughter, she is showing dominance by being on top of her. She is showing her pup that she is literally beneath her so she can learn to respect her.You should ask your vet about her estrus cycle, I don't think she can get sick during it. It's not like a women's menstrual cycle. A human can't ordinarily get pregnant during her cycle, animals are meant to. Hope that helps.

All kinds of health problems happen when a dog is not spayed. The Humane Society may do it for cheap. Puppies are cute but there are way too many in the world now.

Think you should take her to vet who will advise you what to do.
Consider spaying her as she could mate again and produce up to three or four litters within a year which woud be cruel.
Merry Christmas and all the Best.

get her spayed asap
she doesn't need to go through heat just because you want puppies
if you do want another dog go to the shealter that is where you will find very amazing dogs

Hate to sound like everyone else but they're right. Get the dog spayed you obviously don't know how many unwanted dogs there are out there.

Each dog is different. Some will cycle in their normal fashion, but I have found that my girls skip their next season and pick up regular the next time.
