Yes, it sounds like poisoning. Tell her to grow up and take that poor baby to the Vet before she finds a dead kitty!!

First of all, do they know for a fact that the cat has not been eating something...sneaking food on the side perhaps? Also, is the cat simply sleeping, or is it lethargic and unresponsive. If it is the lattar they need to get it to the vet, despite the cost. There's really no way to say for sure what's wrong with the cat, since the symptoms you're describing is the "standard" way a cat deals with being ill. When they don't feel good, they basically curl up in a ball and don't move. Only a vet can give you a proper diagnosis.

You should also call your vet immediately if your kitten is weak or listless, or refuses to take fluids or food.

Feline Urinary Syndrome (FUS) Feline urinary syndrome, or FUS, is an inflammation, irritation, and/or obstruction of the lower urinary tract. The inability to pass urine can become a life and death situation if not treated quickly. FUS is far more common among male cats than females. Your cat might have FUS if it strains to urinate, has blood in the urine, makes frequent trips to the litter box with only small amounts voided, or forgets how to use the litterbox. The local animal doctor will be able to more clearly help you, but over the phone medicine is no match for the wise knowledge of the vet. Please take the kitty in-I'm sure they're willing to set up a small payment plan...but isn't he worth it?

I just had my cat die last week with symptoms like that. He had pancritis (spelling). If this cat has the same thing, he will end up dying an awful death. Make sure your friend is prepared for that to happen. In my case, the vet could do nothing, but it could be something else wrong with this one. Check it out if you can afford it, otherwise get ready to watch a heartbreaking experience.

If you are going to have a pet you need to have money for the vet bills! If your child was not eating and sleeping all the time would you take them to the doctors??? A pet should be part of the family and if you are not willing to take your pet to the doctors when they are sich then you should not have a pet!
