Sure, chasing mice, bugs, birds, etc., is instinctual. Neutering him won't eliminate that.

Females are generally better mousers. Having a cat neutered will not take away from his desire to chase mice. One of our cats loves to chase and catch mice. She plays with them and then lets them go. She isn't hungry so she does not kill them.

Getting your cat nuetered wont stop him from catching mouses. A cat that gets nuetered is an operation to stop that cat from being able to reproduce. This will have no affect in whether or not he will catch mice. It is a cats basic instinct to chase birds, mice and even flies.

If your cat chases and catches mice and birds already, then getting him fixed will not change that. My cat has always been sorta crazy, hopping all over the house, I was scared she would lose her personality when I got her fixed, but she didn't. They just are not so annoying once you have them fixed, but they are still active.
