I have a cat that I love very much... We let it come in for a couple of hours every day, but it stays outside when we're not home and when we sleep (we live way out in the country so it is VERY happy outside). The problem is another cat that keeps coming around. It eats our cat's food (which I don't mind at all), but it also attacks our cat, and since it is bigger, it always wins. My cat came in today with a huge gash and I'm afraid for its safety... Leaving it indoors is NOT an option... does anybody know any way I can keep the other cat away? I'm fixing to have my grandfather shoot it... I'm not usually the type to be malicious, but this cat is wild and we suspect that it has killed a few other cats around here. Any advice would be appreciated!

We have just had Golden Retriever (mom) German Rot (dad) pups. They are 4 weeks old. When the mom dropped the pups, she got really skinny, which I kinda figured must be okay cuz she had just gotten rid of a lot of weight. It was her first litter and she had 8.
BUT, she is WAY too skinny! Before she ever even went into heat, we had a vet ask us if she eats okay. After checking her for mites, etc. on just a regular visit, and giving her regular shots, he decided she's probably just a smaller than average golden.
I dont think she should be this skinny though. Her ribs are showing and her waist is deeply sunken in. She eats regularly, doesnt throw anything up, seems to have regular bowel movements, etc. Would this kind of weight loss be natural for a new mom? We keep thinking that she's got a lot of pups eating her nutrition, maybe she cant keep enough for herself?
Please note that she is not lethargic or anything else to make us worry, she doesnt LOOK right.
Thanks!

My dog bites her leash when we cross a street. She'll be fine walking along the sidewalk, and as soon as we start crossing, she starts mouthing the leash. It's not a serious chew.

my twin sister and i share a dog. now the CA law requires that all dogs/cat be spayed/neutered. i want to abid by this law and get our dog spayed. my sister totally disagrees. she also has been paying for all of his medical and grooming needs. by the way she has more money then i do. i refuse to pay 100 dollars to get him registered when if he were to be spayed it would only cost half that price.

how can i get her to understand that he NEEDS to be spayed?

Now before you start lecturing me, read what I've got to say... I'm not so stupid as to put a choke collar on my dogs unsupervised... BUT... Since my dogs keep chewing through each other's collars, I was thinking I can get a choke collar. The way I'll put it on them is like this:
http://img327.imageshack.us/img327/4580/chaincollarnu9.png

I think that would be okay, right? It wouldn't be slipped through the loop so it couldn't choke them, and it will be snug so it won't slip off, but of course, not too tight... I've been looking for hours, now, (4 hours to be exact) for a collar I can use, but there are no indestructible collars that I have been able to find ANYWHERE on the net. So what do you think about doing it this way? They'll be staying outside in a kennel....

I'm thinking about getting a dog, I live alone and it would be nice to have some company. I work a job 4 days a week, for 8 hours a day. I also live in a medium sized apartment. I was wondering what kind of dog would be good for these living conditions? I have no problem walking the dog, I used to love doing it with my dog when I was a kid.

I am very frustrated!...I have 2 four month old puppies, but I got one a month before I got the next one. The thing is that the vet gave the 1st puppy flea treatment when I first got him; so, the fleas stopped. Then, a month later, I got the other puppy. I noticed he had fleas as well, then I took them both to the vet so that they both could have flea treatments and not have one pass them on to the next one...Well, I don't know what the problem is now, because I still see a flea every now and then on the second puppy I got. Plus he also doesn't weigh as much as the first puppy I got. The vet said that fleas might be the cause for it. I don't know if that's really true, but taking my pupps for flea medication cost a lot of money, that is not the problem, I just want the results. I'm just frustrated at the moment..

When i first got my Red eared slider, it was perfectly fine; it would be active and such. But now all it does is lay on a rock with its head down motionless, but still alive(sluggishly) when handled. Is it Hibernating? what do i need to do to fix this problem?

In order to survive 3 more days you need a small meal. There is nothing with you except your pet monkey... Do you fry up some monkey?
