If they nip at you, a firm NO and stop playing. They will learn nipping means you won't play with them. If they keep on nipping, you may need to be more forceful (hold him on his back, smack with a paper, whatever).
If he's chewing on things, give him dog toys to chew on, and spray the stuff you don't want him to chew on with Bitter Apple. Hot sauce works too.

A 6mo old puppy always chews. What he chews is up to you. Offer him things that are only his like an old shoe an old sock a chew toy there are a number of things at pet stores. You will be happier and so will the pup. Good Luck

I started teaching my puppy from age 12 weeks "no bite" whenever she would bite me I would firmly (without yelling) tell her "no bite". When she would chew something other than me that she shouldn't I would give her a toy or bone to chew and tell her "switch". She will be 5 months old tomorrow and knows "no bite" and "switch" so well that I have no chewing and biting problem at all. All it takes is consistency. You need to do it every time and resist the urge to yell at your puppy or smack him. Good luck.

I've always found with puppies that they chew.. but don't want to hurt.. with our newest puppy we tried the "YIPE" trick.. cured him in less then 3 days.. everytime he chews on you or something he's not supposed to.. "Yipe" like a hurt dog and then give him a chew toy.. very quickly he'll learn that chew toys are the only things he can't "hurt"

You can't stop him from chewing, it is what dogs do. It keeps their teeth clean. You must teach him waht is acceptable to chew on.
If he chews on the woodwork, tell him in a stong voice - NO!, then give him a nylabone to chew on and say good dog.
Do not allow the dog alone, if he is still chewing on unacceptable items. If he can't be watched, crate him.
They are smart they will learn.

get an old towel put a knot in it get it wet stick it in the freezer then when it's icy cold give to puppy to chew on it will help ease the pain of teething.
