Rabbit is almost three year old, its hair becoming course on the sides and some of its hair is turning grey ( it is black rabbit) Why is that? Is it due to aging?

Three isn't very old for a rabbit so I doubt it's due to aging. Are you sure it's actually the coat that's changing colour? I have a silver marten type and although her coat is black, when she moults the lighter undercoat makes it look like she's losing grey fur. Something else to think about is her housing arrangements. If her bedding isn't been cleaned regularly she could be laying in urine, this would cause both the coarse fur and the discolouration. Even if her bedding is been cleaned regularly, maybe she's peeing more often or is dribbling urine. Is she drinking more than usual? There could also be an underlying problem that's stopping her from grooming as well. Things like obesity and teeth problems should be looked at here.

Try giving her a good brush and see how her coat looks after that. Check her diet and make sure she's getting lots of good quality hay and pellets as well as some greens, even grass and dandelions from the garden as long as they're not sprayed.

I feel bad for LowRiderGirl's rabbits since average lifespan on a rabbit is 5-10 years, with 15 or so not being entirely uncommon. We've got several seniors over 8 in our rescue currently.

Yes, it is due to aging. Rabbits only live for several years, which varies from 3-4.5 years of age.

Do you brush its fur well?
The build up of dead cells may be the cause. Try talking to a vet about good brushing for your bunny. (:
If that is not the case, try getting a good quality food for him/her.
Good luck!
