We have a full grown 33lbs Lab-Chiuaua mix (don't ask) named Crash. He recently has been yelping randomly when he has been laying down. I noticed the problem two mornings ago. Crash came and layed down with me in the bed like he normally does after going outside. Well, when I moved to get up, he suddenly yelped. I barely touched him. It seemed to get worse later that day but then seemed to get better today. I'm wondering if he possibly pulled a muscle while playing? When he gets up and walks around he's fine. Also, he's eating/drinking as normal. He is not a chipper as he usually is, but he makes the effort. He only seems to yelp when he moves from laying down. He is now 6 years old. Anyone have the same experience? He just got over having a flu-bug about 3 days before, so we also wondered if that had anything to do with it.

My female dog (ok ... *****, such a horrible word) is 18 months old. She is (was) due for a season & noticed late last week or Saturday her nipples were looking prominent. On Monday the first spots of blood were evident so we declared her officially in season and stopped contact with all other dogs. My worry is on Sunday she was off the lead over the park - she disappeared with a couple of other loose dogs momentarily then went charging off to the other end of the park at lightning speed to get away from them. Could one of these dogs have 'done the dirty deed' with her? She clearly is in season now but there is a lot less blood with this season than there have been with the previous 2 but she may have just got better at cleaning herself up. Can I ask owners of girl dogs/breeders, does this usually happen? Is there a chance she's going to be pregnant?
Not really interested in answers from people who have strong opinions on whether or not I should breed my dog, thanks.

i am currently breeding mollies and i think that there were some snail predadors living in the tank before, and the snails weren't a problem but now there are hundreds of baby snails multiplying by the day and i don't know what to do with them because i heard that they can go into a hibernation so they could live without water for 5 years or so, and i don't know what to do...

Hello everybody!

I was looking into adopting a Chinchilla from a rescue. I've never had one before although I have had other exotics.

I was wondering if they smell, or smell bad. I know they take dust baths, but if he smells can I actually bathe it??

Thanks for the info!!

I came home from doing my shopping and my 10 year old female cat was resting on large pillows in our bay window. I noticed that, as she tried to get up, she was stumbling. I went over to dislodge her claws and she wasn't stuck but she continued to stumble uncontrolably! I gently held on to her so she wouldn't fall off and hurt herself!

I have elpilepsy myslef, I've had it since I was 6 months old but I've been seizure free since 1993!

My questions are, other than hooking up my cat to an EEG machine, is there any other way to test her brain for seizure activity? Do they have medication to cope with seizures for cats? Do I have to go to a specialized vet or is this common?

Thank you for your helpful advice!

He must have gotten into something outside because his tail is hard and sticky. I tried water on a washcloth but it barely did anything. What can I use to get it off his tail?

Both of my dogs have had all their shots and are on heartguard and frontline but lately hey both have been taking turns throwing up a yellow snotty like substance. There is no chunks just liquid. I had asked a vet bt he didn't know what to tell me he said it would pass on its own but it has been going on for awhile now. After they throw up they playy and are fine. Has anyone ever had this happen to their dogs and what was the outcome?

if an intruder broke into your house at night, or at the very least bark to let you know of the danger. if so what sort of dog do you have, or has this happened to you.

It really disgusts me when I see people still wearing furs, etc. & acting like they're better than the rest of the world. It bothers me most of course for the reason that it's a poor little animal they're wearing. I wish I could stop this, but don't know how. One idea for now is to put it on myspace page, since I think a lot of people might view it. Help!

This is a serious question. Lately I've notice more 'eye drip' from my cat than normal. Today I've noticed that there is a dark, crusty formation around both of her eyes and it seems to bother her as she scratches at it. I'm going to bring her to the vet, but does anyone have any insight on what it could be? She is 13 years old and otherwise quite healthy.

I have a single mail betta, I've had him for almost 2 1/2 months, this morning he randomly started blowing bubbles, really tinny ones. Does this have something to do with spawning? He takes a breath from the top of the tank and then lets the air out under the water. Hes lining them up on the side of the tank.

I've been entertaining the idea of getting some reptiles as pets - I've always been fascinated by them - but I admit I don't know all that much about them.

What would be a good FIRST reptile to get as a pet?

I don't have a tremendous amount of space for a tank - so it/they would have to be OK with a smaller tank. Something that isn't too expensive and is rather simple to take care of.

Maybe someday - way out in the future - I'd be ready for some pets that are more complex - but I'd like to start my reptile hobby with something ultra-easy.

Thanks!

We are four guys who work in an office. We are not gay and we are not girly. However, we have a mouse problem. The mice poop on our desks and they ate one of our Honey-Buns. We have mouse traps and every once in awhile we catch (or should we say kill) one.

Today, as fate would have it, a mouse jumped into a giant plastic crate in our snack bar area. The mouse was unable to escape.

One of our co-workers (Jon) discovered the "cute little fellow". Instantly, three of the four workers were captivated by its hypnotic stare. However, one was cold and ready to call his hitman to do his dirty work for him.

We are struck with a moral delima. Do we execute Mr. Jingles? Do we release him and let our friend fend for himself? Or do we take him under our wing and raise him as our own?

Thanks for your help.

For a lot of my life I wanted to be a veterinarian. Im a junior in college and preparing to get ready to apply to veterinary schools, which Ive been told is no easy task. I feel, however, that no matter how much I love it maybe im not meant to be a vet. I took a class with a lot of other veterinary students all applying to vet schools and they all got As and A-s in the course. I got a B+. I cant help but feel that if I were really good enough to be a vet then wouldnt I have been in that A range with them. Am I just kidding myself staying this major thinking that ill actually succeed?
