This is a serious question. Lately I've notice more 'eye drip' from my cat than normal. Today I've noticed that there is a dark, crusty formation around both of her eyes and it seems to bother her as she scratches at it. I'm going to bring her to the vet, but does anyone have any insight on what it could be? She is 13 years old and otherwise quite healthy.

Could be an upper resporatory infection or conjunctivitis. With conjunctivitis you will notice the nictating (third inner eye lid that closes sideways) will sometimes become inflamed. Either requires a visit to the vet. I hope she feels better soon.

Excessive "eye-drip" is not good - you should definitely get her in to see the vet. The vet can prescribe eye drops which will clear up any infection she might have.

Cats get a form of pink eye so becareful when messing with her. It is called conjunktivitis and its very irrotating. she needs to see a vet so that it can be cleared up without any further reprocutions. good luck and hope she feels better soon. and remember to wash your hands after handling her.

Her tear ducts could be clogged. My cat has this problem since she was a kitten. She had surgery but it didn't help. All you need to do is just clean that area with just a damp cotton ball (water) and pat dry with something soft.
