She's been acting weird the last couple of days. She's always meowing, but not a normal meow.. kinda like she's in pain. She's also been laying down on her front legs, and standing up on her back legs with her but in the air. When we try and get close to her she sticks it out even more and starts meowing and shaking. Is this normal? She's only 5 1/2 months.

I just purchased a monkey last month and i have no idea how to take care of him. I figured since they are more like humans they would be easy work. But i was very, very wrong. I cant get rid of him because I've already bonded with him. Who out there knows how to take care of a baby chimp cuz i am honestly, clueless. I know it seems pointless to purchase a monkey not knowing how to take care of it but he was love at first site.

My husband brought this cat home from his rental property where he was left. He was timid at first but has now warmed up yet he still wants to use the couch for his business. I need help to solve this problem.

I just got a new border collie male, he is four months old. I have been taking him out every couple of hours and he does pee outside when i take him, and I am sure to really praise him and give him a treat. Occasionally he has gone inside on newspapers that I have put down for an emergency, but this morning he has gone and went pee in the corner of the room on the carpet twice!! Right after he went pee outside he comes in and pee's on the carpet. Its a brand new home so he cant be smelling other dogs pee or anything....how do I get him to learn to hold his bladder for when he goes outside every couple of hours.

Ok, I couldn't resist. I took my children to visit the local animal shelter and we couldn't just take home one. We fell in love with 2. We live on a farm so there is plenty of room. One is 5 months and the other is 9 weeks. I have a few questions. They are both playful with each other. However, the little pup sometimes yelps like he has been hurt while they are playing but continues to play. Is this something to worry about? Should I stop them when the oldest seems to get to rough? Is this rough playing going to trigger any aggressive behaviors that I should be concerned with? Also, I am very nervous about leaving them when I go to work. Would it be ok to gate off the hallway and close all doors and keep them in the same area together? Or is it better that I crate both of them in seperate crates? I have to get them potty trained! We've had them less than 24 hours and I have already cleaned up poop and pee and mountain high lol. Any suggestions?

I have a male kitten who is 6months old. He has not been declawed yet but i think I'm going to loose my mind with him. I have asked on here before about what to do with them scratching the couch and table. I got a post for him to use and actually tied it to the one spot he goes the most. Well yesterday I actually watched him move it out of the way to scratch the table. I dont know what to do. I have tried it all. When he he goes after the couch I move him to the post and show him how to do it and he knows where it is and how to use it. HELP.

My siamese cat has a very bizarre fear. He is afraid of hair tools. He is afraid of hair dryers (while off), hair straighteners, hair brushes, anything. My other cat has absolutely no fear of these things, but my siamese will run, jump, and generally be afraid if he notices hair tools on the ground. Worse yet, he insists on being near my wife when she does her hair in the mornings. He will occasionally viciously attack the hair tools and then run away. He is very skittish around these things. He's a scaredy cat in general... afraid of strangers in particular. But no other object strikes fear in him like hair tools. Bizarrely, we have cat brushes that look like human brushes, but he doesn't have a problem with these.

What is wrong with my cat? Why is he afraid of hair tools, yet he will go out of his way to attack them?

I just bought a 5 month old Cairn Terrier. I am having severe problems training him. Not only will he NOT go to the bathroom outside, but he will ONLY go when he is put in his crate. He doesn't care if he lays in it all day. I am trying to train him to use a wee wee pad in a puppy litter box, but he absolutely refuses. He is so cute, but I won't be able to keep him much longer unless I can figure out a way to handle his problem. He also has a pretty good case of seperation anxiety after only a few days!

1 year old Lab. Got her from the SPCA about 2 weeks ago. She came with kennel cough. She is just getting over it. She's still been coughing and gagging a fair amount, but eating and drinking well. Other than that, seems healthy, very active and social. Plays quite a bit. Late last night, tried to give her a treat- would not eat it. Had a poop accident in the house. This morning, she would not eat regular kibble or soft treat. Drank all of her water, and I refilled her bowl for her three times. Seemed like she hadn't drank in days (even though she has regular water available at all times). What's wrong? Is this normal?

We have been blessed with 3 great cats at different times of my life. I'm about to go to Grad School in the Fall, and am interested in getting a kitten because I'm just not a dog person. What should I look for? I'm looking for a lapcat that'll sleep on my bed, etc., that's social with other people and playful, but knows when to settle down. Any ideas of what traits to look for when looking for a kitten, and where to look? I live in Eastern NC. Thanks!

We moved in this past weekend. We picked him up last night and brought him over for the first time. We started him in our bedroom but then let him explore the rest of the house...find his litterbox etc. Last night he slept with us but was purring SO LOUDLY. When I woke to go to work he followed me around and when I picked him up he would purr loudly and grab his claws into my shoulders. He seems very nervous. I can imagine how he feels...it is a hard adjustment for me too. We have his toys, same water and food bowl etc. This cat is 9 years old. and has lived in 2 different places before this. How long will it take him to settle down and what can I do to ease his discomfort? My husband is home with him today.

Now, my cat is not affectionate in the least bit, but every time I get out of the shower she starts meowing frantically and rubbing against me, and pretty much just won't leave me alone. This really is the ONLY time she does this. Do you think it's her way of telling me not to leave the house in the morning?
