I just perchased a monkey last month and i have no idea how to take care of him. I figured since they are more like humans they would be easy work. But i was very, very wrong. I cant get rid of him because I've already bonded with him. Who out there knows how to take care of a baby chimp cuz i am honestly, clueless. I know it seems pointless to purchase a monkey not knowing how to take care of it but he was love at first site.

Monkeys are very similar to humans in many ways, but first I suggest getting a large enough cage. Monkeys can not be left free at home without supervision. Do you have a chimp or a monkey? Chimps require much more psychology than does a monkey, and a more substantial diet. All primates respond best if kept to a routine...feeding, play, rest, etc. A chimp requires a diet of about 1,200 calories a day for growth and require both vitamin and mineral supplements. Breakfast should offer scrambled eggs (little salt),yoghurt, bread, fruit, and boiled sweet potato. corn meal mush is accepted by some and especially if a little molasses is dribbled over it. Lunch should include raw and boiled vegetables (carrots, sweet potatoes, turnips (if it will accept them) yoghurt or ice cream, bread, apples, bananas, pears, and sugar canes (either peeled or unpeeled), raisins, melon, citrus fruit (peeled or sectioned) apple sauce. The evening meal is mostly fruit and vegetables but supplemented with one of the pelleted primate diets, Ground turkey meat (cooked) or Chicken breasts (cooked...low salt or better no salt).
TV is important to provide companionship and white noise when you are not there. A monkey has very different dietary needs...Also check both local and state/province laws as most primates are controlled and routine inspections are held. I have kept over twenty different species of primates and fortunately I am also a physician and could treat my pets, but you also need to find a competent vet to look after your pet. They are prone to suffer the same illnesses as humans with more serious results.
