Welcome to the world of male dog ownership.

Get him neutered. Not only is the vet right, but it will also prevent testicular and prostate (and urinary) cancers or disease, take away his roaming urges making them less likely to be hit by a car or to be injured by fighting or picking up diseases, decreases his desire to show aggression or dominance to other male dogs or people, he will be less prone to mark his territory & less likely to 'mount' your leg (or your guests).

Hope this helps.

There is the Golden Retriever.
There is the Labrador Retriever. Labrador Retrievers come in three varieties: black, yellow and chocolate.
There is no such thing as a Golden Lab.

Well, I would also recommend that you get the little guy fixed. My lab use to do this, but after I got him fixed he stopped. It is natural for a dog to have this, but it makes them much more comfy when they don't have to deal with it. A dog that isn't fixed has many more problems with infections with that area and things of that sort than a dog that is.

Yes, the vet is right. Unless you plan on breeding your dog, neutering is the best option, also the healthiest. It will increase the life expectancy of your dog by a few years.
