My brother, who is only 7, just got a big turtle thing, and I've been left to care for it. I wasn't there when he got it, so I didn't get to see where it was being kept. I know I'm supposed to put water in the tank and a place for him to get out. I only put enough water in to barely cover his shell. So..does this thing like to swim or something? I'm afraid of drowning him if I put too much water in without knowing. Oh, and how often should he be fed? We bought some feeder fish and these little turtle pellet things. I left a fish in the tank, but he hasn't eaten it yet..

She is about a year old. She sleeps soundly. She was on my bed. I came into the room and went to go kiss her on the nose and she bit my face. No stitches thank God but antibiotics and a tetanus. What do I do other then do not go near a dog in the dark and grab its face. What training could I do to assure she wont bite others?

He also doesn't seem to be eating or drinking much in the last day or so. He feels warm. The pads on all his feet feel cold.

Pit bulls need our love, not our hate. The breed bands dont just effect pit bulls but ALL dogs. the breed band wont stop all dogs from attacking. If pit bulls are banned, then another breed will be in the headline, and when that breed is banned another breed will take its place. Till there are no dogs left. All dogs can bite. All dogs can kill.
Breed bands are not the answer. All dog owners should be responsible no matter the breed.

I had to put her down this morning and I'm heartbroken. It feels like there is something missing in my house tonight. I was so used to her presence day in day out and she was such a nice cat. I will never forget how she meowed at me 10 seconds before she passed away today. almost like saying goodbye. How long will it take me to feel okay again? I'm so sad now.

I have a two month old miniature schnauzer, we got her a week ago and we have been feeding her Maxium by Purina. She was fine up until today,This morning she was shaking a lot i figured she was just cold, so i wrapped her up and went to the grocery store i got back two hours later and she was in the Same spot!! After that i took her out to use the restroom but she did nothing, she wont touch her food and hasnt all day she drinks a bit of water now and then but just lays back down. she gets PLENTY of attention, constantly, About 30 minutes ago i took her out again because she was sniffing around to use the restroom, as i sat her on the ground she "squirted" out white from her bottom. and she has done it once more...any suggestions? or ideas WHAT is wrong?!?

I have a puppy, he is 15 weeks old. I got him to go hunting with me, he is a chespeake bay retriever. I am not sure if I want to breed him or not. I guess my question is... if he gets old enough to breed and develops an attitude, will that attitude still be there if I get him fixed? Or, would it be better to get him fixed before the attitude arrives. (assuming of course, there will be an attitude in the first place). His father is a really nice dog, his mother had some aggression (but, that could be because there were puppies with her). The lady I bought him from says both parents are sweet, and he is a great pup....thoughts....please.

I REALLY WANT ONE

2006-11-11 12:14:12 · 9 answers · asked by jobrofan4life 2 in Dogs

There are a couple of adult stray cats that have taken up residence on my porch. I can't tell how old they are, but they're not geriatrics by any means. I can NOT afford to keep them, myself. :( I already have a [strictly indoor] cat that I don't want exposed to the "nasties" that the outdoors harbors, so I can't let the strays inside to get warm. It's all I can do to keep my own kitty healthy & happy. Both strays are declawed & probably neutered. They're both yellow tabbys. The male is very lovable & vocal. The female is a bit standoffish, as female cats are, & is polydactile. I don't want these kitties going ferrel & dieing a horrible winter death because of someone else's deliberate stupidity by neglecting them. I'd like to find GOOD "forever" homes for these two ASAP. If I can't by the time it starts freezing at night all the time, I'll have no choice but to take them to the pound. You know what will happen to them there!!! NOT good!!!

If you can help plz email me.

There seems to be lots of questions from dog owners with house breaking concerns. I had my 10 week old puppy trained in two days. Is this unusual? Maybe I just got lucky.

I used to ride at this one barn and then my teacher moved to another barn. And so the barn I ride at now is one of the best barn in my area. But my teacher said she's bringing one of her horses to the barn i used to ride at and she wants to know if i want to partial lease it. I don't know what I want to do because I really like the barn i ride at now but i also really want to lease a horse *there are no horses available for lease where i ride* and my parents said i couldn't lease and stay where i am.... what should i do?

My boyfriend found a tic on my dogs head. He it off of her including the head. I am going to call the vet first thing in the morning. But what are the symptoms of lyme disease and what is the percentage of tics that do carry the disease? Any info at all on the subject will be helpful. Thanks in advance!

Heres some background to the question: Yesterday (Friday) my brother opened the spa. It hasnt been used for years. So, he opened the spa and starts crying. I ask him what is wrong... oh by the way hes only 10... and he says, "SNAKE!" I then remember he is terrified of snakes. I walk over to the spa, and there in the water with a bunch of frogs is... a coiled snake. I started freaking out. How is there a snake in my spa. My grandma says it is probably using the pipes to get around. I go to sleep that night really freaked out. Right now, I go and open the spa. Curious little me... I look around when I see a jet hole. And there in the hole... IS THE SNAKES HEAD! My grandma is right, he is using the pipes. I called my mom and she says it is a watersnake somehow. She said to go online and see if watersnakes live in California. If they dont, HOW IN THE WORLD DID ONE GET IN MY SPA???

This problem is getting really bad. I'm worried that if they bite someone we don't know well enough, then we might nlose our dogs. They're brother and sister, and they're almost 3 years old. Plea

My cat has a pretty good size abcess on its back from a cat fight. I am treating it with NFZ wound dressing (0.2% nitrofurazone) and trypzyme-V.
It has been open for a couple of days now and the cat seems to be acting normal. Still eating fine, running around and playing. I just still worry that I should be giving it an oral antibiotic. I'm out of work and don't have any spare $. So, I do have some amoxicillin that my 4 yr old never needed to take. It is 250mg/5ml suspension. How close is it to what a vet would prescribe?

If you work with animals or with a veterinarian, can you please answer.
All you cat lovers out there, don't worry, I have not given any to the cat. I am waiting for some sound advice first. Last resort will be to take it to the vet. So don't yell at me for not being a caring owner....I am. Why do you think I'm asking and hoping someone knowledgable will answer.

Thanks for your help!

Sometimes, when i am eating something in particular my dog - Zoe, stares at me - when that doesn't work she barks - and lastly she starts making these funny moany wierd sounds while she is trying to get my eats!......Mom and I say she is trying to tell us she wants some and when we arent giving in she tries those wierd sounds. My husband - again - thinks we are being silly with our dogs. I think she is trying to speak to us in her own way. LOL
