I have a puppy, he is 15 weeks old. I got him to go hunting with me, he is a chespeake bay retriever. I am not sure if I want to breed him or not. I guess my question is... if he gets old enough to breed and develops an attitude, will that attitude still be there if I get him fixed? Or, would it be better to get him fixed before the attitude arrives. (assuming of course, there will be an attitude in the first place). His father is a really nice dog, his mother had some aggression (but, that could be because there were puppies with her). The lady I bought him from says both parents are sweet, and he is a great pup....thoughts....please.

I forgot to mention that he stays outside. He sleeps on the back porch (enclosed). I don't believe in chaining a dog, but I am opened to getting a kennel for when he gets frisky.

If your even considering keeping him intact, be aware that intact dogs care about 2 things and 2 things only, finding a ***** to breed with and peeing all over EVERYTHING.

Huuummmm with a male that's going to be up to you but if you chose to keep him intact then buy a belly band, so he doesn't pee all over your house, male dogs who are not fixed have the worst smelling pee it stinks like skunk.
He might get an attitude and getting him fixed might resolve that issue but ever dog is different.

Don't breed unless you are a licensed breeder. There are too many dogs in shelters, because of over-breeding.
Neuter him ASAP, he'll live a healthier & happier life.
