I have a 5 year old Blue and Gold macaw named Jack... He has a black tongue and a black beak and underneath his tongue isn't black... I've never really looked at it before but today he was staring at me with his tongue raised and the light was shining right on it, and I looked at it and it's white and has little black dots. Is that normal? He's not acting differently than he always has, and he's as healthy as he's ever been, I've just never noticed it before and when I searched the internet I couldn't find pictures of bird tongue. I can't get a picture of his either because he tries to bite the camera. Thanks, I know it's a stupid question I'm just slightly concerned and curious.

My cat has my furniture frayed in spots. Soft Paws fell off repeatedly and declawing isn't an option. Any success stories on spays to deter her would be appreciated.

I have an 18 month old male cat that was nutered whrn he was about 4 months old. Everytime i leave a plastic bag on the floor he pees on it. I have tried everthing to get him to stop but nothing works. Can anyone explain why he would do this? I have taken him to the vet and he is in perfect heath so ther really is no reason behind this odd behavior.

I have a pure bred female pit bull that is in heat. My neigbor's dog which is a pure bred rottweiller obvously knew this and dug a hole under the fence to get to her and has, how can I say this, consummated their relationship. At first I did not realize what was going on because when I looked outside, they were backed up butt to butt. I ran the rottweiller off and when I did, I saw that they were indeed mating. Has anyone seen this type of mating before. PS- Several days later he was back again and mounted her the right way- on her back.
And, would she be immediatley pregnant and how would I know? I am extremely upset about this.

It is a 60 litres (15 gallons) one.
It has:

* 5 neon tetras

* 7 guppies

* 4 glass catfish

* 2 kissing gouramis

* 1 pleco (small)

* 1 platy (very young, was a fry 2 months ago)

* 1 redline torpedo barb.

The nitrite level was always zero, the water is matured with filter bacteria and everything was ok. But recently I get nitrite levels going very high after a 2 days 30% water change...I even change the active carbon foam in less than 4 weeks...I use a gravel cleaner, and for some reason the bottom gets full of poo sometimes, out of nowhere! Is the fish/litres ratio too bad?
It is 4 months already so it is not a new one...and I didnt have any nitrite problems till recently. Also the fish have been added gradualy and I havent added any recently.

Why does my dog act agressive to some people? today my hesband had some carpet guys (3) come to our house to fix our carpet. They drove a van, and before they even got 1/2 way up our driveway, our fenced St. Bernard started barking and growling like he was going to try and eat the guys. When they got out of their vehicle, he was just plain mad and growling lowd enough for the guys to ask about their safty. The dog loves almost everone and everything. Why would he act like this now towards someone he has never even been around? Do you think he has a problem with the people, or was he just scared for my husband and my safty?

Recently, my cat has started tearing up magazines. He bites at and tears the pages with his claws, but seems to be content. He has never done this before; is this normal behavior for a cat? Does your cat do anything similar to this?

My golden gecko came out of its tank because my mother left it not properly closed... the tank is next to a window that stays open a little bit during the whole night. My question is... are golden geckos territorial enough to come back to their "house"? or if not so, do they establish themselves in some place? or do they wander around? I am very depressed because of this situation, specially because here in mexico we've got scorpions and many other animals that could put him in danger. I'd appreciate all help in this matter. Thanx to everyone

I adopted two male 6 month old maltese-poodle puppies from the same litter about two months ago. They were the last two of the litter and I felt bad about separating them and thought maybe I could raise them together so they could keep eachother company. I really wished I had researched this before I made that decision because now I am reading so much information on why it's a bad idea. It has been alot more work than I anticipated but the thing I am most worried about is the over-dependence my dogs have with eachother. Training has been difficult because I cannot separate the two of them for any length of time without the other one getting distraught and barking and crying. And this goes on for hours. I'm worried about how dependent on eachother they are and the effect it's having on my ability to train them effectively. I'm considering placing one of the dogs in another home but not sure if that will have a negative effect on them either. Any advice?

I've had my healthy Russian Tortoise for 15 years but lately it seems as though his face, or the upper part of his mouth/jaw, is growing. It's getting longer and is getting in the way when he eats. Almost like an overbite. Anyone know what this is? Should I take him to a vet? Thanks!

i have noticed that some people (not metioning names) seem to spend alot of time accusing people of being irresponsible, sure some are, but from what i have read most people are genuinly after advice on how to care/cope with their dogs/puppies. obviously some people have more experience than others, but why can't they just give positive advice without putting people down. has anyone else noticed this. maybe they could advise us on HOW TO BE AS PERFECT AS THEM.

My puppy, a Cairn Terrier, is about 14-16 weeks old and has been with me for just over a month, I am planning on keeping him as a house dog, so therefore I am looking for hits and tips on potty training him, I have no plans on him using the outdoors for his toilet needs and at the moment hes just squatting where ever he feels like and the rest of the household are quickly loosing patience!
