OK as some of you know I have a new hamster which I only got yesterday. I have fed him treats through the bars and from my fingers inside the cage. Each way my little Timmy accepted it, very gently.

I don't know if he's ready yet but I would like to know how to handle/tame him. Where should I begin and what positions, etc so I hold him in?

Also is there anything I should do before taking him out of the cage. I appreciate and I am very grateful for all answers. Best answer will get 5 stars and positive feedback and a thumbs up vote. Thank you!

My new beagle that I rescued from the shelter is really friendly. He follows me everywhere, so I find it difficult to train him to stay. But if he finds something interesting to smell, he won't respond to me. I've found that whistling or snapping sometimes works, but I need more help. Thanks!

I live in a very dog friendly community and almost all of my neighbors have dogs. Well, I let my dog sleep out in her dog house when her cycle comes. I do this to prevent her leaking on my carpet. I learned from the past that a stud will do just about anything to get to a ***** in heat, so I installed 6 foot fencing around my backyard. Two days ago When I returned home from work I found my dog "tied" to my neighbor's 10 year old dog.....AGAIN. The dog dug under the fencing to get to her. This is his third time impregnanting my dog. First she went to him, so I installed 4 foot fencing. Then he hopped the fence and got her, and that's when I got the 6 foot fencing. plan to put her on birth control after this, but what can I do to make this as safe as possible for her? I would be distraught if something happened to her.

PS-The stud's owner proposed we get our dogs hitched. I agreed. Theres no sense in getting in the way of what appears to be true love. Afterall they do have 24 kids.

Just adopted a beautiful 1 year old golden. She had been found half dead by the side of the road, skin and bones with half a tail. She was timid at first, but has become very loving. My problem is housetraining. She seems to be good with not going poop in the house. Peeing is different matter. She just sniffs around outside. She gets positive reinforcement when she goes potty outside. But daily (even though she gets to go out no less than 10 times a day) she pees on the rug. Its like having a horse pee on the carpet! Have tried a bunch of treats... but she doesn't really get too excited about them. She can be in her cage all night. I take her out in the morning for about 20 minutes...no pee. I bring her inside and she starts to play wrestle and then starts hosing all over the place! Then ends up having to sit in her cage for 20-30 minutes and I take her outside immediately to go and still nothing.

Shih tzu or toy poodle? I've heard so many people say that shih tzu is a better choice for a beginner but I've read that tzu can be very stubborn and are not easy to housebreak. I've heard so many people say that toy poodles are also good for beginners and I've read that they are easy to train but are yappy. Is a toy poodle a dominant kind of dog coz I'm really not the dominant type and I don't want my dog ordering me or something like that.

I'd really like a pet. Either a cat or dog. The only thing is, there's an extra $200 deposit and a $200 non-refundable pet fee. That's $400, $200 of which I never see again. I really don't think that's fair, as children are far more destructive than an adult de-clawed cat (as per the lease). But you don't see them charging "kid fees." For some of us, pets are our kids. Should I get a pet anyway without telling my landlord and risk getting kicked out, or should I just not get a pet?

My kitty has very dry skin on her back. She actually has a touch of dandruff. Is there some sort of shampoo or moisturizer that I can put on her so the poor thing doesn’t look like she got caught in a blizzard? Thank you!

My moggy was always a very homely cat and didn't seem that botherd when we got 2 new kittens 5 years ago. We have also added 2 children to the family (neither of which have ever tried to grab her or hurt her) but for some reason she has decided over the last year to move out and found a retired couple on the next street to stay with, she used to come back every few days but the length of time got longer and longer and now she hasn't been home for about 2 months. I have tried bringing her home and not letting her out for a week or so at a time but she just keeps trying to escape. I want her to be happy but would prefer that to be with us, especially as the retired couple have made it quite clear that although they like her coming into their house etc they are not prepaired to take on any vets bills for inoculations or anything else. I'm at a loss as to what to do!

I just need advice. My pitbull is about 3 years old. When he was younger, he was a pretty obnoxious puppy. My husband disciplined him how a pitbull should be disciplined. Last night, my husband was trying to get him to go outside and the dog tried to bite him. He snarled and snapped and jumped at him. My husband then got the dog's harness and asked him to go for a walk, which snapped him out of it. Any suggestions on what we should do with him?

I'm training my 6 month old Rottweiler. I reward him with one of his balls or toys.
If he's working really hard I'll give him treats to keep him involved.
Does anyone know of a good dog treat that is 1) small 2) nutritious 3) minimal calories.
I know he's young and will work off a lot of calories in a day; I just want to keep him lean and healthy and would rather not give him biscuit after biscuit.

I have just purchased a flat pad style pad heater.
I need to know where or how these heater pads should be installed. should I...

A. Just put the heater pad under the news paper liner on the
bottom of the tank? if so
Is direct contact with the paper liner on top of the pad a
hazzard?

B. Put the element under the tank glass bottom? if so
How do I hold the heater pad up aginst the glass bottom?
Will a piece of thin (1/8") piece of plywood between the stand
and tank hold it?
The heater pad came with rubber stand off pads. Does this
mean that it has to be placed with air space below pad?

fyi - snake is a 5 yr old corn aprox. 46" lg., Tank is 55 gal. all glass

Thanks

Keith

We used to have this long conversations through all these years. I just can´t explain why this happened. Do you think the fact I change his dog´s food from Purina to Pedigree has something to do about it?

The pigeon-eating pelican in St James' park yesterday made me wonder what happens to the feathers? I imagine they're indigestible, but if the pelican vomited then surely the vomit would get stuck in its pouch? How do pelicans get rid of undesirable objects from their stomachs?
