The pigeon-eating pelican in St James' park yesterday made me wonder what happens to the feathers? I imagine they're indigestible, but if the pelican vomited then surely the vomit would get stuck in its pouch? How do pelicans get rid of undesirable objects from their stomachs?

BIrds regurgitate to feed their young, and many do in courtship. So yes, they can vomit.
