This question seems a bit naive. Humans need exercise to stay healthy, your dog needs it for a number of reasons. An un-exercised dog will find ways to keep busy by chewing, etc. They also can gain weight just like a lazy human. You must keep your dog exercised to keep his mind healthy as well. Most breeds of dogs were developed for some type of work, since most dog owners want pets not working dogs, it is the owners responsibility to keep the dog active to fulfill the dogs basic needs.

Absolutely!
Just make sure your dog is fit enough to handle the exercise you want to give it and that you are also giving your dog the volume of exercise they need. Many Border Collies thrive when they run about 6 miles per day. Some do up to about 20 miles of running a day.
Dogs also need to exercise their minds too. Make sure you have games that you can play that makes them think. Getting food out of a Kong or other interactive food ball or treat ball is good. Hide and seek of a favorite toy, etc can help to keep your dog's mind well exercised.

off course a dog without exercise becomes hungary all the time and lazy and isnt a good pet and often devolps bad habits. You'll need to give your dog lots of exercise for it to be a good companion and a healthy dog

your dog needs exercise to prevent it from getting obese & lazy. walk your dog at least twice a day to keep him healthy & introduce ball games so he runs around too. If your dog doesnt get enough exercise & gets obese it could be at risk of getting diabetes or other illness's & the medical bill will be huge!! so keep him active!! X

that depends on the size of the dog and how big your back garden is and how often they are allowed out! also some dogs tend to get fat a bit easier than others. my lab had a tendency to get rather portly if we werent careful where as a great dane we had never put on enough weight to be fat although she ate like a horse! over excersise is bad for your dog but a nice walk around the park does wonders to keep them healthy and happy.

Put it this way: he's got legs and lungs and a heart and most of the other vital organs and body parts that you have (ok, I'll presume you don't have a wet nose and a tail) so do you think he needs to stay healthy in the same way as you do?

of course it is. Fresh air, exercise and a sensible diet will help it lead a long life. Exercise is also good for training and mental wellbeing.

YESSSS it is very helpful for them. It builds up endurance and makes them stronger. My dog runs three miles Saturday and Sunday. Plus I take him on walks during the week.
