As soon as the temp of the water drops below 55, you should stop feeding. When it warms back up above 55 in the spring, then start feeding again, lightly for a week or two.

When the temp gets to approx 50 degrees it is good to stop feeding. Their metabolism slows down at this point and they won't eat much ( if at all). When the water warms to 55 to 60 you can start feeding. it is good to feed them in the fall and spring with a high protein food to prep them/fatten them back up.

stop feeding when the temps stay around 50-55 (you will notice the fish aren't begging) in the spring when it starts warming up
resume feeding (you'll notice the fish)

would want to charm to close the water temperature. yet without that once quite ice varieties on the best. Even then a touch feed once per week. not a lot. till eventually iced over over. the fewer warm the water the slower there metabolism. purchase a thermometer and put in.
