I live in a very dog friendly community and almost all of my neighbors have dogs. Well, I let my dog sleep out in her dog house when her cycle comes. I do this to prevent her leaking on my carpet. I learned from the past that a stud will do just about anything to get to a ***** in heat, so I installed 6 foot fencing around my backyard. Two days ago When I returned home from work I found my dog "tied" to my neighbor's 10 year old dog.....AGAIN. The dog dug under the fencing to get to her. This is his third time impregnanting my dog. First she went to him, so I installed 4 foot fencing. Then he hopped the fence and got her, and that's when I got the 6 foot fencing. plan to put her on birth control after this, but what can I do to make this as safe as possible for her? I would be distraught if something happened to her.

PS-The stud's owner proposed we get our dogs hitched. I agreed. Theres no sense in getting in the way of what appears to be true love. Afterall they do have 24 kids.

omg!!!! why ar eyou people being such A$$E$ to this person. who are you to judge what her dog does. ya'll need a life to pass judgement off on before you do it to someone else. my gosh, i am sorry that they are rude heartless people, melissa, but i do agree that you should hae your dog spayed, they are just like humans they can only handle so much before they end up hurting themselves or something goes wrong. if it is a problem about the dog then talk to the owner about keeping their dog tied up or in the house whoile your dog is in heat. get her spayed after this litter, it's reallly not healthy for her to have that many litters in that short a period of time. my sisters dog kept getting pregnant and they could not figure out how or by what dog i should say. she had 4 litters in like 5 years and she died giving birth to the last litter. but ne ways sorry about the people getting rude with you, they are a$$holes but i hope this helps you....holly

How old is the dog? I say this, because puppies will bite. I have a lab and he has play bit before when he was a baby. If this is an angry dog, then yeah. I would probably file a complaint, but most of the time, it's the ignorancy of adults and kids when they get bit. Kids pull tails, torture the hell out of dogs and their parents want to run and whine and try to get the dog put down. Adults leave the children alone with a dog and then wonder why the kid gets attacked. You can't do those things. I never leave my dog alone with children. I'm not saying it's your son's fault, but alot of the time dogs bite when they are provoked. Edit: Your son was on the dog's territory. That's why the dog bit him. Unless the dog knows your son very well, dogs will most likely protect their territory. Some dogs just bark, others will nip. My dog just barks at people, but i'm still not going to leave my child alone in a yard and then wonder why he gets bit. Someone should have been watching him. It's one thing if a dog chases someone down the street to attack, it's another if the dog stays on his territory and just protecting his family. In this case, I would be darned if someone tried to have my dog put down. They would have to kill me to get to my dog.

Well that's just great, there is such a shortage of random bred mutts in this country! You have already added 24 to the problem.

If you cannot manage your animal, at least get her fixed. Your dog will be the one to pay for your irresponsibility. A ***** in heat should be either crated away from any intact males or under your supervision at all times.

It isn't "love". It is not remotely cute to bring litter after litter of mutts into the world while breeding the life out of your *****.

And there IS no birth control for dogs, no matter what some dimwit may tell you.

Why are you allowing this? You will shorten her life considerably by allowing her to be mated so often. You should either have her spayed or be a much more responsible dog owner. When she comes into her cycle you must protect her. Put a diaper developed for this and keep her inside. You are endangering her health by allowing this. A responsible breeder knows that 2-3 whelpings in a dog's lifetime is sufficient. Be responsible and protect your dog. Otherwise, get her spayed because you are going to significantly reduce her lifespan with your behavior.

You can buy dog diapers at the following link or go to a pet store.

Good God just get her spayed already! Her 5th pregnancy... wow that is going to be really hard on her body. I am sorry but that is just pathetic. Try being responsible and get her spayed or at the very least stop putting her at side when she is in heat so she isn't a sitting duck! After this many mistakes you think you would have learned! No doggie birth control... JUST FIX HER! The only thing I can tell you is for you to take her to the vet for check ups during her pregnancy. That poor dog.

She is depleted - bone density is damaged, and in fact, every major system in her body has sufferred irreparable stress and it has shortened her life with these continual preganacies.

WHAT - ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL HER BY BREEDING HER TO DEATH????????

THAT IS AS BAD AS A PUPPY MILL BREEDER!!!

AT THIS RATE SHE WILL BE LUCKY TO LIVE UNTIL 5 OR 6 IF SHE DOESN'T DIE IN LABOR - PARTICULARLY NOW WHEN SHE IS SO WORN OUT FROM CONSECUTIVE MULITPLE LITTERS!!!

If she were an AKC Champion worth breeding, this wouldn't have happened - their owners know how to keep their females safe

She must be a pet. Since pets of any breed are a dime a dozen with thousands upon thousands in rescues, don't need anymore puppies from a pet dog who is not a superior example of its breed and has an AKC title

If you can afford the fence, you an afford the spay. DO IT!!

SPAY HER NOW!! IT CAN BE DONE EVEN IF SHE IS PREGNANT!!!

Aside from killing her with the preganacies for no good reason at all (and there are NO safe birth control methods for dogs to keep them from coming into heat - NOT ONE), she will be at risk of uterine and ovarian and cervical cancer unless spayed.

Sheessh.....

Five litters ... you are an irresponsible dog owner.
Have your dog spayed and get her to a new owner who is better suited to raising a dog.

How many of your dog's puppies wound up / will wind up, in local animal shelters because you haven't found suitable homes for all of them?

And how many of those 24 pups ended up at the animal shelter? If you want to keep your dog healthy and worry free, get her fixed. At that point you can let your neighbor's dog come over and visit anytime without having to worry about puppies.

Do you realize that every one of those 24 puppies could be having puppies by now? That your dog could be the grandmother of over 500 dogs? And they wonder why so many dogs get destroyed every year....

LOVE? Its instinct. You could have had her spayed 6 times with the output you spent on a fence. What is the problem? Don't you have a vet? Stop breeding her to any and every mutt that digs into your yard. This is irresponsisble and disgusting.

You should be asking your vet how this will effect your dog's health - she is the one who is trained to answer this question.

Then set an appointment for spay surgery. There is absolutely no excuse for not having it done. You can have her spayed now, before she gives birth, too.
