I have never owned a ferret (only rats, hamsters, and dogs) and was just wondering what their level of care is. I know they need lots of attention (would love to give it!) but what else? I can leave a hamster in a cage with plenty of food and water for the weekend and they enjoy that better than being toted around, but a dog would definitely rather come with me than be at home. If we went camping, for instance, would we leave the ferret at home with provisions or take it with us? Thank you!

I have been trying to train her by spraying water so she will stop jumping on the furniture, but it hasn't been effective. She is such a rebel and doesn't mind when I skirt her.

I was petting my cat today and noticed that he smelled really bad. Then I heard my sister say that the cat had a cut on the paw of his back left leg. So then I went to check it out and I smelled the cut and it smelled like dead animal and the cut was not bleeding but it was all gooey and wet. What should I do about it? is there any way to disinfect it? And if I go to the vet will it cost a lot?

I'm not talking about calling the bug man here...I'm talking about something just short of burning the place to the ground. New York city is infested and they are all over the place and immune to all the bug sprays. Anyone had a real success with getting rid of them completely?? Thanks

The worm looked like a thin maggot. Does anyone know what kind it is? And do I have to take my cat to the vet, or can I get an over the counter med. Can my dog catch it? If I give my dog medication for worms, but doesn't have worms, will it harm her?
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Okay... i've worked with ferrets, but what i would like to know, is if they "like" getting a bath... or does it end up being a 'chore' ? lol... just curious, i know that if you start them out 'young', they should 'get used to it'.

My cat has been sick sense thursday, and I am taking her to the vet tommorow. She won't eat on her own, and she is constipated.

I bought her some laxatives that didn't work, and high calorie food supliment and baby food. Should I continue to force feed her, or would that hurt her sense she can't poop?

I have a 8 year old terrier mix named shadow, and the past 2 days he has been acting different. Last night, he was laying between me and my husband on the couch and his tongue was hanging out his mouth on the side like he was having an attack of some sort. I calmed him down and he seemed fine. I called of friend of mine this morning and she said it sounded like he may have a a stroke? He's only 8 years old and I have had him since he was a puppy. Yesterday, he went through almost 3 fillings of water and today he hardly drank any water, but he has been going to the bathroom as normal. What d you think it could be? I've been keeping an eye on him and don't know if I need to take him to an emergency vet or let it take it's course (whatever it is).
Please be kind in your repsonses as this dog is the last memory of my son.....
Please give me any suggestions you may have.
Thank you!
