Sure just put it in your bedroom because I am guessing your apartments manager doesn't go there.

It depends on your lease. It's not about 'getting away' with it really.
Sept 17 my best friend had a fire in his apartment. Only the bird was home when it started. (still under investigation). "Bubba" was trapped in his cage but LUCKILY because the landlord knew he had a bird, she intructed the firemen to go save it and they did. Had they not known about the bird, "Bubba" would have parrished. We really aren't sure why he survive, there was over 10 grand in damage and the blinds on the windows in the room where "Bubba" lives were all melted. But all he had was some soot on his little breath holes on his little beak and he is fine.
So.. besides my story, is it worth being evicted over having (hiding) a pet? Ask first.

He'll probably allow you to have fish or anything in a tank. Just ask him. "No pets" usually means no dogs or cats. I have a bird and 75% of the apartments I've looked at over the years said birds didn't even count as a "pet" like they were talking about.

Fish that don't require too much equipment are excellent. They hardly make any noise and they don't smell. Rodents do.
You could have a small betta tank that can be put away where your landlord won't see it if he ever comes in.
Chameleons are quiet and relatively clean, but need a lot more attention and are a little more expensive to maintain.
I have a couple of calyptratus and adore them, they're amazing lil' critters.

i think your worry is baseless. short of calling it senseless. your apt. is your apt. and not the "managers" hut -- you are allowed fish, and other homey pets...unless expressly forbidden the contract you signed -- even if it were forbidden -- it would be illegal -- depending on the state or province you live in. If i were you -- tomorrow I would go and buy a fish bowl or other natural habitat for your pet whatever you love....
good luck...and be brave.

Fish should be okay, but remember rules are rules. They are there for a reason.
