ok, so my cat played with a centerpiece on our table, with sharp plastic flower things. one of them poked her mouth, and the side of her mouth is swollen, there is no bleeding though. this happened about 4 days ago, and sometimes she can't, or won't close her mouth all the way. she didn't stop eating, but is having trouble keeping food in her mouth-will the mouth heal on its own, or can a vet do anything about it?

lol i know, a lot of questions, every new pet turns intoa research project for me lol. i want to add a snail or some sort of bottom feeder to my tank in a week or so ( to allow for enough food to build up for it?) what would u recommend for a 5 gallon, non-heated tank with fantails? i have a bio filter, charcoal filter and light. also.... i'm interested in getting some sort of live plant..... and i am working on a fairly tight budget lol thanks SOOOOOOOOO much guys!!!!!!!!!

I am going to start giving my dog her own shots to save on the vets price. The shots would be the parvo and distemper vaccines. Can anyone tell me whether they go in the hip or in the nap of the neck? Any info would be great. Thanks and have a great day.

I have a male Betta that I have decided to breed. I got a beautiful female and placed her in a little tank beside his. They have been showing off for one another fine but she still has to wait awhile to breed as she is small. My question is that today as he was building a great bubble nest, she started to bubble as well. Not half as much and her bubbles are all around the top of her tank. I was just wondering if that was normal. I just put her there to get them aquainted and plan on removing her from view in a day or so and waiting about a month to reintroduce her. The bubbles were just something that I didn't expect from my female. Anyone?

I have an 8 month old kitten I got when she was 1 month old. I love her and she seems to be a 1 person cat who has only loved me. She runs to me when I come home, sleeps in my bed, stays all the time on my lap, etc. But she needs a new home. My cousin loves cats and has taken in a kitten around the same age as mine around the same time. She also has a 9 y/o cat. My kitten is the scardy cat, I had a cat before and she wasn't as scared as this one. She does though get along with other cats, or she used to.. My question: How painful will this transaction be..my cousins a stay at home mom to a 8 y/o boy who is gentle with the cats. Can she adjust and be happy?

Someone put a dog with the mange in my backyard. I had the dog removed but now I'm afraid to let my dogs out. I don't want to take the chance of them catching it also. Is there something I can spray or dust my yard with to prevent any chance of my dogs catching it or something I can give my dogs as a precaution. I have a shar pei and a chihuahua. Both dogs stay indoors and until the back yard is safe their outdoor time is very limited and on leash.

I am getting a cat from my landlord. He is already 1 1/2 yrs old, so he's sorta "settled" where he is. He is also an outside cat. I will be moving back to Georgia soon, and taking him with me. What can I do to make the move easier for him? Also, I am wondering if he might run away from my place in Georgia since he isn't familiar with it there? I have had many cats, but I've never had to move one.

I have a 4 year old shih-tese, and he actually eats rocks, I know because he threw up about six of them a couple of days ago. I couldn't believe how big they were. When I see him chewing, when he is out side I scold him, but it doesn't seem to help he's still eating them, what can I do???? He has already broken several of his front teeth out.

My former roommate moved back to Alaska, and left her dog with me, promising to send for it. It's been a month, and she finally emailed me to let me know that she couldn't send for it, and to find it a new home. "It" is a small Chihuahua mix, about 4 pounds, female, unspayed, no shots or any kind of medical care. I need to find her a new home. Is anyone here into Chihuahua rescue, or would be interested in giving her a new home? Would it be mean of me just to surrender her to the shelter? Being that she is a small dog, I'm nearly positive she will find a good home. My "friend" has never given me a single dime to pay for this dog's care, and the dog is getting a bit expensive. I've tried the local small dog rescue, but they weren't able to take her. What do you all think I should do? The main issue is that I have to rehome her by the end of the month, because I'm moving, and there is no place in the new house to put her.

I own 3 , Who were a bit flighy when I got them, but a bit of ground work and patience , They are as good as gold!
And with my personal exsperiance with the breed I wouldnt own any other!

She is 1,5 years old, and she loves her chewies!
She will lay down and chew on it for a while, then she starts going around the room dropping it into things and proceed to stand there barking at it until we go over there and fish it out of whatever cran and nookie she has put it in, and she keeps on doing it sometimes over and over again, and when she gets a new one the next day, here we go again! Anybody knows why she does this?

I am embarrassed to put a sweater on my 6lb Chihuahua, but I read that they get cold and it is kind to put a little sweater on them on cold mornings. But the dog seems to hate it. What do your dogs do when you put clothes on them?
