And I'm not trying to say Arabs are better,
I love all breeds I see the purpose for all of them, Arabians are my favorite because they are the most versitile for me....
I just wanted to know why some people are so narrow minded?

Im glad to meet a true horse lover! Ive worked with arabians all my life and Ive bred 3 part bred colts, and I love them more than anything! I find it interesting that all of these people, even though they say they love arabs, have still used words like 'flighty' and 'sensitive'. Arabs were the first horse. No other breed would exist without them, so, in my opinion, that spirit and fire is REAL horse, it just got watered down on the way down to the other breeds. They are just smarter than other horses, they know how to play you, and usually, thats all it is, playacting. "if I act crazy theyll leave me alone" sort of thing. They are also fiercely loyal, they dont respond well to being sold, they like to have their family and stay in it. Did you read the question a few weeks ago from a girl who said all 'mad arabs' should be shot? I told her to grow up - Im sick of arabs being stereotyped just because at the breed shows everyone scares them into looking gorgeous, when they are really very quiet and lovely horses.

People look for different attributes in a horse, that's why there are so many diverse breeds.

Some people like arabs, some don't. Some people like warmbloods, some don't.

I personally do not like arabian horses as a whole. In general, they are too small, I do not feel comfortable on them (if I find a 17h one, I may change my mind). Arabs and TBs are too flighty for me, it's annoying to deal with a horse that spooks at every single freaking thing, and blows a coronary if something is out of place. I also find them frustrating to work with, it seems to take forever to train them. Whether this is because they're extremely smart (like arab lovers claim) or extremely not, I don't know.

You couldn't give me an arab...arab cross maybe, but I will never own a full blooded arab.

Does that answer your question?

I have nothing against Arabians. I have previously owned one and still own an Egyptian Arabian mare. Beautiful as can be. Both Arabians are so spirited and funny.

I think everyone has their own preference.

Even though I own Arabians, I still prefer Quarters. My quarters are Little more down to earth on tempermet, but they still have a lot in common with other breeds on personality and their riding style, to which I enjoy being an "all around" rider. Therefore, I think people who go the length to judge in a negative way "put down" other breeds (stuck up attitude) is only insecure about them own selves.

There is a difference between preferring a breed and judging a breed.

I think that Arabians are a beautiful breed of horses, they are just so beautiful....I think what other people have 'against' Arabians is either a bad experience and they have become stereotypical or just because of their often flighty or moody temperaments....As you will already know Arabians are hot-blooded horses and I also believe that some people have these feeling towards thoroughbreds and other hot-blooded breeds....Personally I have nothing against Arabians but maybe some people do because they are just jealous that they haven't got enough experience under their "horsey belt" to handle them. Arabians can make great anythings in my opinion but maybe it isnt so for others....

Most people stereotype certain breeds like Arabs, Saddlebreds, and Thoroughbreds becuase of what we bred them to be; race horses, five-gaited horses, in-hand horses. When people breed for a specific trait often times you lose certain other qualities; and it is the horses that have been bred to do a high performance job that did not quite make the breeders standard that get dumped on unsuspecting people. Any horse is what it is bred to be; Arabian reiners or pleasure horses, Saddlebred jumpers; or Thoroughbred trail horses.
P.S. Arabians started them all QH, Paints, Thoroughbreds, etc......

I wouldn't say I hate them, but the one Arabian horse we had was a total spaz and very flightly dispite lots of work and training. Once, he reared up while my mom was riding him and he fell backwards on top of her and she cracked two vertebra. (Was on bed rest for 3 months)

On the other hand they are beautiful horses and have great energy in good ways as well. There is nothing like seeing an Arabian horse running through the field.

I've owned a POA, a Shetland Pony, lots of Morgans (we bred them when I was a child) and one quarter horse. I love trail riding and jumping, so I had lots of fun with the Morgans. Personally, Morgan and Quarter Horses are what I prefer.

It bothers me that people stereotype so much on breeds of horses. An Arabian can be just as good of a beginner horse as a quarter horse. there are flighty nervous ones and calm gentle ones in every breed.i have worked with saddlebreds, arabians, throroughbreds, quarter horses, and wakling horses as well as warmbloods. in my experience, the saddlebreds and thoroughbreds were calmer than most of the quarter horses that I worked with and all of the walking horses I worked with as well. Every horse has spirit in him some just show it more easily than others. My Arabian show horse was very spirited at first but then he calmed down. We gelded him at the age of 6 so he had developed fully as a stallion and he went on to develop a gorgeous topline. I trained him to English and western showmanship, pleasure, equitation, trail, jumping, barrels, poles, and endurance and he took 1,2,or 3, in every class.

There is nothing at all wrong with Arabs, they are wonderful beautiful horses. Ive had six of them threw out my lifetime along with thoroughbreds (they get a bad rap also). Yes they take some patience and they are a little hard headed an flighty, but I think they make us better horse people.
I think people don't like Arabs because they are really not true horse people.
believe me I have nothing against any breed of horse, but most people that don't like Arabs are people that have fat, slow , barn soured quarter horses.

Arabs have a bad rep. My guess is it comes from the big show world, where they WANT their Arabs to looks flighty. Arabs are supposedly more sensitive, and while that may or may not be true, horses that are sensitive are more likely to react to incompetence negatively.

And it's not like Arabs are the only breed with an undeserved bad rep.

I love arabians. I have riden a few at show. Mainly for dressage and halter classes. They usually take the top of the class. Personally, I like a more spirited animal. I think they do so well in show because of the spirit in their eyes and their very beautiful heads.

Take Care
