If they're not neutered, get both of them neutered IMMEDIATELY! This should help tone down some of the aggression. Also, make sure both get adequate exercise, long walks every day. I would also contact a dog trainer in your area to help you with training them. Hopefully it's something you can work through.

OK the first place you went wrong is when you get a pitbull and a German Shepard mix with a poodle. Those dog breeds together aren't to nice to each other. But I know a love between a human and a dog so heres what you do... spend at least three hours with them every day for about a week or so,then have some1 Else's dogs come over and do a contest type thing and then eventually your dogs will have to work together until finally they become friends. This should take two weeks to a month tops.Good luck!

You should probably talk to a professional. Recently i had four dogs that all lived happily together. The latest one we got from my mothers work as they were going to put her down because she was too timid, as she had been abused in her former home. The dogs all got along (two boys/two girls) until last year when two of the dogs (the latest one-girl and a boy) got into a fight. It was really hard to break up the fight because the latest one just wouldn't let go of the other dogs neck. We thought it was a one time thing and that it wouldn't happen again if we separated the two dogs. A few months later, i came home and let all the dogs in side. The latest dog had gotten into a fight with a different dog this time and ripped all his neck. He barely survived. I called my parents and we took the injured dog to the vet finding out how serious the fight was. We had to put our latest dog down and she was the most beautiful and kind dog in the world. She just had something in her that made her snap. I miss her dearly and my mum says (being a professional in the animal industry) that if she knew what would have happened she wouldn't have adopted her into our family even though we loved her very much. Its not worth risking the other dogs saftey for that. Sorry if this story doesn't make much sense, but hopefully it helps you in figuring out your problem.

Are they neutered? It is very rare two unneutered male dogs will get along. They both should be. You might also have two Alpha dogs that are fighting to establish dominance and who is higher in the pecking order. Do not forget dogs see us as a pack and you as the owner are to be the alpha but the dogs also establish who ranks higher amongst themselves. By getting them neutered you cut down on alot of aggression issues. I have two neutered males, one is a Pit Bull and the youngest is my Lab. They are both neutered and absolutely love one another. They protect one another, they eat from the same bowls and chew on the same bones. We had the Pit first and for several years, he was neutered late and we have had no problems.
If they are not neutered get them, it will help a lot and it is healthier from them. Make sure you are slearly the alpha and have control over them. Try not to feed them in the same area,( and try not to feed one before the other on a regular basis, only because you would be determining the alpha and it might cause more problems with jealousness.) and give both equal attention. You may just have to keep them apart but make it clear to them you do not tolerate the fighting either.

Most likely, they will never stop fighting. Consult a training professional - not guaranteed though. If you can't afford that, you're out of luck. Neutering may help, BUT remember, Pit Bulls were once bred to fight other dogs - it may be in his genes and there is nothing you can do about it. Some are dog aggressive and can never get along with other dogs - especially of the same sex!
Crate and rotate is a lifestyle - one dog out at a time. No room for mistakes here, it could cost a dog his life.

You really cant do anything to stop the fighting. If two dogs dont get along with each other there is nothing you can do to change that. Have the two dogs been living with each other for a long period of time or did you just introduce them to each other? Pitbulls are very very strong dogs and have a lot of history of being fighting dogs because thier jaw muscles are a lot stronger than any other dog's jaw muscles so, i would recommend using extreme caution when handling the two animals so that you dont get hurt. Odviously the two dogs have a problem with each other. Usually when male dogs are fighting it has to do with dominance and territory. It is certainly possible that there is a female dog in heat in your area that they are smelling and this is triggering sudden territorial fights.

They probably still have not accepted which one is the Alpha male ( Dominant Dog ) if this keeps up or if it has gone on for along time you might have to get rid of one , probably the pitbull because that is the one that could potentially do more damage to the other dog and you don't want that to happen .

It could be they are fighting over who is more dominant. Did you raise them together and intrroduce them? Dogs are real particular on having another dog around the house. Also pit bull males are more dominant of there territory then females, so two males maybe will just never get along.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that it's because they don't like each other. ;-)
Most causes of fighting in dogs are hormonal/territorial-induced. If they are not both neutered...there's your answer right there. Doing the surgery now may help...but it might not. But if you don't do it, you have no hope of them ever getting along if they're already fighting.

Your dogs are fighting for leadership. If you were a successful and consistent leader for the dogs they wouldn't fight. They need exercise, and discipline. You are number one, they both should be number twos.
