I just noticed something. How come we only use tranquilizers on mammals on land, but never birds, amphibians/reptiles, or even mammals that live underwater? Also, just how long does the tranquilizer completely wear off? Have wildlife professionals used tranquilizers in bats, or would that be too much?

Sacha keeps one eyes half-closed if not completely closed most of the time, and it's a bit runny; he's an eight-month-old cat we just adopted, hasn't been inside any shelter. HELP!

She told me that she sells her puppies on a spay/neuter contract. What does this mean? I mean how does she enforce that? Does she get the spay and neutering done? I really wanted to breed my new puppy just for the experience not to make a ton of $. Plus I have heard your dog lives longer if you let them have a liter. Thanks for your help!

I want a safe and organic way to discourage my 2 kittens from ripping my carpet up and climbing the curtains, and I was told that they hate the smell of lemons. So I put a few drops of lemon essential oil on the carpet, and they smelt it and didn't seem particularly bothered. I don't want to use lemon juice, as this may go 'off' after a while. What else can I use?

i'm looking for a small-sized dog - like a westie or a king charles spaniel, perhaps. i need the dog to be of calm, quiet temperament (so not a jack russel) - i don't want it to be tearing the place apart if it's left alone for more than a minute. responsive to training, gentle and loving - anyone know what type fits the bill - and if possible where the best place to buy a dog like this might be? i've looked at a lot of rescue sites but the dogs all seem to have emotional issues that it would be unfair of me to attempt to address.

I have 7 puppies that mama weaned early, Tried can food, wetted puppy chow, & the milk replacement formula on food & tried just giving em the milk in a dish, I haven't tried to bottle feed yet.. Just tried to give em moist kitten food hope they like that. It's just that the mama refuses 2 let em nurse but wants 2 stay with em. Therefore it makes the babies sqwal bad becuz she won't let em touch her. The soft can food works great except its giving them diarrea. Called the vet & they R the 1's who told me 2 get purina puppy chow & milk replacement but thats not doin the job they don't want it. They're still very chubby & healthy & active but I need any advice on what 2 feed em or give em so I can feed em canned food or whatever without them getting diarrea or anything I just need 2 B able 2 feed em. Desperate give any advice u can please

Recently he has become less active and has been eating less and drinking more. He also has losed about 15 pounds. I took him to the vet about a month ago when he was just not eating, and the doctor put him on a special diet for a week and gave him antibotics. After he finished special diet and medication he seemed to be back to normal, but the last two weeks he hasnt been very active and seems to be mopping around, and urinating for long periods of time, and drinking more water than usual. The doctor also took blood and urine samples and everything came back normal. He is at the vet as we speak getting x-rays. I just wanted to know what I should prepare my self for?

I have an almost-16 week old Golden Retriever. He is acting absolutely normal. He is wrestling with our other dog, running around like crazy when he goes outside, eating and drinking normal. Yesterday morning his stool was normal too, but it gradually got worse until last night, when we took him out at 10:00, he was literally just spewing brown water. I've had to wake up several times during the night to take him out. He vomited twice last night, around 2:00 and 3:00 am. The vet doesn't open for another hour and I'm worried sick. He's had all but his very last Parvo shot and I really don't think that could be it. My husband said that he and my other dog got a little bit into the trash yesterday. It obviously wasn't a lot because I didn't even notice, but it's possible he may have eaten something (though I'm completely stumped as to what it might have been).

I'm terrified and I can't sleep. Anyone had a similar experience and can help me?

Thanks!

OK, 2 months ago, I asked a question and so many good answers came so I put the question to vote.

I have only 1 question in voting and it is that one thing!

YOUR PART! Go to my profile, find the question: a-Z in Animals 10 Points! : Its something like that.

Vote, come back and as your answer to this question, tell me what answer you voted for eg: Answer 5. If you vote but dont tell me what answer you voted for, you are not eligible for the 10 points.

So please help an Aussie out!

Thanks!

And also please answer any other open questions of mine!

Hi,

We recently adopted a kitten via my sister who is a Vet Nurse. This lovely little chap is 9 weeks old or thereaboutrs, was badly starving, and had severe infections and a bad leg / tail. The vets amputated the tail and leg before we got him and sorted the infections, but after a week he is still a complete nervous wreck!
I've adopted abused animals before but after a week they normally show some signs of familiarity, this little one just shakes. He also often has accidents (anywhere but the litter tray) and will sit in it.

I recognise he's traumatised and we're sticking it out with him, but need advice too. He does play / move about at night, but never by day.

We do have another older cat, but he and the kitten just steer clear of each other, which seems OK for the moment- we can work on that later.

Does anybody know why?

The pond is clear from blanket weed, and they have been feeding well on a sinking Sterlet food. We have had them a few months, and they were growing well.

We found them both dead yesterday - No wounds or marks on the bodies.
